Oppo Find X8s and Find X8s+ hands-on

While in China for the unveiling of the Oppo Find X8 series, we had the pleasure of spending a few minutes with the new Find X8s and Find X8s+. This are our first impressions of them!

The pair of Find X8s models completes the series and sits just under the all-out Find X8 Ultra. But despite what the names might suggest, both the Find X8s and Find X8s+ are flagship phones in their own right.

Both are also smaller and, in turn, easily manageable in the hand, especially the X8s. The Find X8s has a 6.32-inch display, and is only 150.6mm tall and weighs a gram below 180g.

Here's a quick look at the size difference between the two models. Both models come in a variety of finishes. The Find X8s+ has a matte frame in Black or Purple, and a glossy frame in White. The Purple model has a matching purple camera island, while the other two have black glass around the lenses.

The Find X8s comes in White (glossy frame, black glass camera island), Purple and Blue (matte frame, color-matched camera island glass), and Black (black camera island glass, matte frame).

The Find X8s+ is the bigger phone. It has a 6.59-inch display panel - a 1-120Hz 10-bit unit with Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.

The phone is heavier at 198g, and taller at 157.5mm. It's still perfectly manageable and smaller than the Ultra phones out there.

The camera systems are very similar between the two Find X8s models. The main camera is the same 24mm f/1.8 unit with a 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor. The ultrawide is also shared - a 15mm f/2.0 lens and a 1/2.75-inch sensor - in fact this is the same unit found in the Find X8 Ultra!

The zoom cameras on the Find X8s and X8s+ are different. The X8s+ has a 73mm f/2.6 periscope zoom with a 1/1.95-inch sensor, while the Find X8s has an 85mm f/2.8 zoom with a smaller imager.

Back to the hardware. While both phones look very similar, there's a noticeable difference in the hand. The Find X8s feels noticeably smaller. The size gap is larger than it appaears in photos and you have to handle both to get it.

As with the Find X8 Ultra, Oppo doesn't have any plans to bring the Find X8s and Find X8s+ to international markets. Chinese phones have always had spotty global availability, but as they get better and better, it's becoming particularly painful for us non-China folk.

Both Find X8s devices are relatively compact, have excellent hardware, and, more importantly, are equipped with immense silicon-carbon batteries- the Find X8s has a 5,700mAh cell, while the Find X8s+ has a 6,000mAh one. Compare that to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 5,000mAh battery or the iPhone 16 Pro's 3,582mAh unit!

Cameras on recent Chinese phones are also getting better and better. But, sadly, all of that is a rather irrelevant for the international audience.

the s25+ is SO bad it makes the s25 look like an exceptional value in comparison lmao

I'm not suggesting that compact phones bring more value. In fact, up until phones like the X8s and 13T came along, the S25 and Pixel 9 would be the most popular compacts. I wouldn't choose a S25+...I meant that if the S25 isn't a huge ...
