Oppo Reno12 series tipped to feature a custom Sony sensor

Oppo unveiled the Reno11 series smartphones last November, so we expect their successors to arrive before H2 2024 begins. There's no word yet from Oppo regarding the Reno12 lineup, but tipster Smart Pikachu (name translated from Chinese) on Weibo hinted at camera improvements.

The tipster said the Oppo Reno12 series will feature a newly customized Sony sensor, elevating the lineup's mid-range image quality. The Reno11 series includes three smartphones - Reno11, Reno11 Pro, and Reno11 F. The vanilla and Pro models feature 50MP primary cameras, while the F version sports a 64MP unit, so it remains to be seen how many phones the Reno12 lineup will include and what the resolution of their main cameras will be.

It's also worth mentioning that the Chinese Reno11 and Reno11 Pro are powered by the Dimensity 8200 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chips, respectively, while the global vanilla and Pro models have the Dimensity 7050 and Dimensity 8200 at the helm. The Reno11 F is also powered by the Dimensity 7050 SoC.

It's Oppo's strategy to flood the market. Besides, what Oppo did was simply keep rebranding the previous phones again and again and only changes few cosmetic appearances so nobody notices.

yeah exactly, other manufacturers release often but also have high value or improve their value, Oppo ain't doing that so it feels pretty redundant to have so many new phones.
