Our Huawei P30 video review is up

Enrique, 16 April 2019

We were very impressed with the Huawei P30 Pro but we also checked out the “standard” Huawei P30. The most apparent differences are in the more compact size and the flat, non-curved display. Of course, there are several more technical differences, but the overall experience is identical.

We like that Huawei went for an AMOLED for the P30 for deeper blacks and higher contrast when viewing content. The AMOLED screen also allows for an always-on feature, something the P20 didn’t have. Still, you get an in-display fingerprint scanner that works very quickly and accurately.

Unlike the P30 Pro, the P30 does have a 3.5mm headphone jack, but like the P30 Pro, the P30 uses the Nano Memory format for storage expansion.

There’s also a triple camera setup on the P30. It doesn’t have the 10X periscope camera like on the P30 Pro, but its camera is mostly derived from the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (though without OIS), so you’ll still get the ultra-wide angle and telephoto cameras, as well as the 40MP main sensor with a default output of 10MP.
