Been waiting for an unlocked version of this device. So far, Pre owners I've encountered love their devices as it more than suits their needs. Also looks very attractive. Glad HP kept the form factor & txt entry's a nice experience for me. Web OS thus far has stellar reviews! Looking for device that can play hard and work even harder. I feel this device shows lots of promise!

Sadly, the build quality on my Palm Pre 2 was much like that of the earlier Pre, rubbish. The keyboard developed the wobbles after 3-4 days followed by a audio problem with the phone... Crackles and pops followed by a crash. This may have been sorted by a reboot, but on a brand new £400 phone? I think not. It has gone back after 10 days.
webOS 2 is faster and slicker in operation than earlier versions in my admittedly limited experience and the whole visual feel was nicer than webOS 1.x. The loss of the home button was almost certainly because of all the issues with cracking screens on the first Pre's (yep, I had that too) and was not missed on the Pre 2 (or the Plus), the new flat glass screen is nice to use and feels and looks great.
As ever, the prestore is not as well stocked as say the Apple stuff, but it has the essentials and grows by the day. It is quick and easy to use and again, had a better feel.
The Pixi maybe a better bet as the qwerty kb is fixed at the expense of the screen size. The Pre compact form factor is still superb, I do not want an iFone sized device in my overalls, and neither do many others I would suggest.
To sum up? I was so disappointed that the phone will not do it for me. I am long time Palm user, and HP need to find someone to build the phones to be robust and reliable. Maybe when they license webOS to HTC, things will improve...? :) Now to decide where to go as I need a new phone... W7 looks the likeliest option BUT no compact qwerty phones yet

Why, why , why when HP took a fresh look and updated this lovely pebble they did not bother to put a micro sd card slot in!

ooopps, take it easy.
with Palm Pre 2's WiFi router capability for up to 5 devices, it is a G-R-E-A-T match with Archos 70 (cheap, high spec, and without additional charge on 3G usage)
use your Pre 2 for texting/simple connection or update with friends, use your Archos 70 for multi-media and other internet stuff.
of course when you are mobile or on the go, you need not bring your tablet, because "mobility" is the time you are personally connecting with people/friends
AND NOTHING IS PERFECT IN THIS WORLD. it's a matter of preference (so stop being phone expert, hello...)
