Palm Pre coming to Europe in October, no word on pricing yet

07 July, 2009

Palm Pre has finished packing its luggage and is coming to Europe for the holidays. Initially it will be available in the UK, Ireland and Germany through O2, while Spain will get it through the Movistar network.

The press release states the launch date as the definitive "before the holidays", but at least O2 Germany are more specific and claim they'll have the Palm Pre in October. UK, Ireland and Spain can probably expect to receive the same treatment.

The press release also includes info on the pricing - unfortunately, it's that the pricing hasn't been determined yet. Last month rumor had it that the Palm Pre will be available for about 400 euro, and we would bet on that turning out pretty accurate.

The rest of the press release (a long one at that) goes on to say that Europeans will be the first to get their hands on the Pre outside of North America and also gives Palm's executives and engineers a pat on the back for breaking Sprint's first-weekend sales record and designing such an awesome device.

October? The waiting is just too long. It takes 6 months for Palm to manufacture GSM version and market it? C'mon. You can do much better than that, eh?
