Hello! I´m considering buying a VS7 but I wish to know first if there are softwares like unit converters and world times that could be downloaded to the phone to complete it. Does the phone support this kind of download?? does anybody know where I could find this kind of software for download?? Thanks, everybody! Renata

hi
just got it and i think it's a great one.
has anyone had a problem with the sound/video recorder? it seems to record the file and save the sounds as amr. files, but i can hear no sound coming out. the same with video (it's silent).
do i have to convert it to another type of file through the software? doesn't make much sense. (the mp3 quality is more than decent for a phone and there's no problem to download from the PC)
any help?
thanks

Ramsus,
i've got a VS7 from HK and my fone also came w/ lots of deletable thai songs so i'v also been deleting them 2 gain more space...as for transfering the pictures over i've done them through my PDA via IR on2 an SD card then using a card reader 2 upload them to the PC...i haven't got the USB cable nor the software yet as the VS7 hasn't even been announced in Aus yet so i spose i gotta wait till my next trip back to HK or wait for Panasonic Aus to release the data cable for the VS2/VS3 models, whichever comes first...

Maybe I'll get a USB cable...
The only software I got and using is the one that came with my Bluetooth. No software or anything like it was included in my VS7 package (there shouldnt be one i guess).
Btw, was it only me or this phone is preloaded with "deletable" thai songs? Because mine has several and I erased them all to free some memory.

Ramsus,
This probably won't be much help... but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
I have used my VS7 to transfer files between it and my V3 Razr (two SIM cards of course). And to a friend of mine's phone. That worked great (Bluetooth)
But to connect it to my laptop etc I've just used the USB cable. It's fast and works great. Try using that... (not as cool I know!) Are you using the supplied software when you try to connect them, I don't remember, but I think the software they give you is for the USB cable and Bluetooth?! (not sure)
I might go check this out and see what I can find

Majestic,
The last couple posts said to be posted by me, were not from me... my actual real last post was 2005-11-17 06:48
Someone keeps posting under my SN and bashes the phone... Grow up, seriously, thats pathetic!
I stated the few little issues I'm having with my VS7... and what could of been better with the phone. But I also explained this is probably (so far) the best cell I've ever ownned.. it is awesome, and EVERY single person that has seen it has gotten excited over it and told me they think its awsesome. So far, nothing but an all around positive experiance with the VS7!

Just got VS7, cool phone and all, but I'm having a MAJOR headache with its bluetooth feature.
In the instruction booklet, it clearly indicates that you can send/receive picture, video and sound clips etc. between bluetooth devices on page 107.
I followed the instructions step by step, also spend $40 CAN for a bluetooth and successfully paired my laptop with my cellphone.
Here comes the problem, I cannot access any folder on my cellphone and they wont display either on my computer. All I see are Headphone Audiogateway and OBEXObjectPush. I tried connecting my cell to laptop, it's a success like 1/5? And everytime it connects, it automatically disconnect after only 2 seconds.
So I went to search for help online at the Official website and noticed a line which is totally not true: Main menu>My Media>[any]>Download. Where is/are this folder called Download? Only options I see are Stored[media type] and [Create new].
And so much for customer service's "Contact Us" option which just drives you to another and another webpage and never gives you any contact number or E-Mail...
In other forums, lot of people are having same problem and they all gave up and bought themselves a USB cable instead.
Did anyone successfully transfer files via bluetooth to this phone? I really want to know how you worked your magic.
Overall, this phone is really good, just that the instruction manual cannot be trusted in certain areas such as this one...

GeneralTJI,
u r actually mistaken there is a loophole for a strap..it's situated on the back of the fone top left hand corner...that little cutout...

The buttons are small and you'll find your wrist and thumb aching severely after typing a few sms messages and fiddling it...
Good speaker sound but the phone doesn't capitalise on it to any extent.
Honestly - everyone keeps saying the size of the top half is worth the trade off for the excellent screen - but the bottom line is the phone doesn't exploit the large screen to any extent! I'd rather see them trim back the screen size by a few mm to make the phone look more neater and streamline.
It's almost like forking heaps of money to get a brilliant large plasma tv that can't play back shows.
Get the point?

Sorry no loophole for strap and video recording goes for less than 30 seconds with severely crap quality. Not really a chic phone either cause of it's size (sorry to be sexiest) - My sister borrowed it for a few days and she returned it saying it was embarassing to use cause it looks so big.
with only 30MB shared memory I don't think you'd wanna go recording too many videos either - you'll find yourself constantly deleting mp3's and pics just to make room for more things that you want to store! So annoying!
The software is great! But the low memory really trades it off. Sigh!

i have a W800i and it's great. my sister would like to buy a cellphone just like it but we both don't want to have exactly the same cp. so we were looking for another one that would have the same features. and we found this one and MX7. unfortunately, MX7 is not available in our country.
like others, i think this phone would be better if it has bigger memory so we could store more MP3s and pix.
nevertheless, this phone has good features for its price. so i think my sister would get this one for herself. i really love it's flip open design plus the fact that it has 2MP camera and has MP3 capability, bluetooth, infrared, etc.
questions though for those who have it, how long does it record video? does it have a hinge or something where we could tie in a hand strap for security reasons? thanks so much.

Ok, that last comment posted by "me" (GeneralTJI) was not actually from me. I don't charge my VS7 everyday, and I use it a lot everyday. I have been charging it every other day and sometimes every 3rd day. Battery life is good... as good as my V3. I have no complaints about battery life.
It's seriously a good phone. It is of course not perfect. Right now, I am having a few issues... I am in the US and on Cingular, and for some reason when I get a voicemail, it doesnt come in under the voicemail icon telling me I have a voicemail... all I get is a TXT MSG containing nothing but the @ symbol. I can't find any settings to fix this either.... weird.
The earpiece is faily loud. Its not the loudest I've heard.. but decent. And I;m picky and like them loud.
People like to complain its too big, but thats what it takes to have a 2.5" screen! It is a tradeoff... the screen is amazing, and so is the sound quality of the ringer. VS7 owners: TRY THE SOFTWARE PROVIDED !! you wont have to pay for ringtones, use your mp3's, edit them to the part of the song you want for a ringer, and send them to your phone with the PROVIDED USB CABLE and you will be amazed.. they sound good.

I got this phone! My first impression was wow. screen is very nice and bright. The phone is not very ergonomic unfortunately due to the fact the top half is larger then the bottom.
Here is my real complaint and if possible i would like to get it fixed.
The ear piece is really really low! I mean super low, I can only hear people in low noise environments.
Is there a hack or a TTY mode on the phone to increase the ear piece volume?

Due to the bright screen - the battery life is incredibly short!!! I have to charge it everyday when I get home. Very annoying indeed!

Just trying to comfort myself. Here are the true negatives about this phone.
1) The top screen section is larger than the bottom section. So from a bottom up view - the phone looks very untidy. Like the engineers forgot the trim it back.
2) The camera on the outside is styled in an ugly fashion. Looks more like a well for getting water.
3) The eject button is very hazardous - it's in fact hard to grab a hold of the bottom when its flipping open which can cause you to drop it! Esp. since the top half extends beyond the bottom half.
4) The video recording quality is lousy.
5) Great screen but the functionality is at the level of lower end models - therefore the phone doesn't capitalise on it to any great extent.
6) There's no specially tailored function for MP3 playback. It done via a rather lousy sound file playback function.
7) The camera can be used with the phone closed but the button to take the pictures is extremely small and nonergonomic.
8) There's no card slot - which means after a few photo snaps and mp3's the memory is basically gone. Therefore the 2MP camera is made rather redundant. Good cameras need to backed up with heaps of spare memory - unfortunately this phone lacks it.
9) The USB port - don't be fooled. You need the Panasonic USB cable - not the standard ones you use on digital cameras and other phones suchs as the more recent Motorola ones.
10)I guarantee you'll drop this phone due to it's poor design.
