MOBILE CAMERAS
==============
One thing that really annoys me is this constant comparison of REAL Digital Cameras vs. Mobile Digital.
THEY ARE THE SAME THING.
Both use a CCD or CMOS sensor, have a lense and capture pictures for crying out loud.
Remember the first Digital Cameras that came out...they were 1.3 Mpx, 2.0 Mpx, and so on.
Of course mobiles are not as good as a SLR or even a decent compact camera. The lenses are still to improve.
But the V903SH (Sharp) has created a new level of mobile photography with optical zoom and auto-focus...just like a REAL camera.
The latest cybershot's from Sony are no different to a mobile phone. The lenses are tiny, have optical zoom and produce just as good pictures! It's all merging.
WHAT YOU USE IT FOR
===================
After all, it depends on what you use the images for. I use them for the web and to print them into standard images. And it is plenty for me. My 802SH does a good enough job for web pics, and still good to print them.

Btw, the N70 & N91 use Carl Zeiss lenses too.
Wait another year and the words Mobile Photography will have a completely different sound...

TO SKATER:
I agree with you about the screen quality.
But I think that is still not bad, even if it is a software (since you mentioned that Sharp does it too).
I just like vs7 for its huge screen, convinient keypad, solid look, and good earpiece sound ( smooth, with anough bass, and doesn't get distored when on the high lodness level).
I definitely agree that Nokia phones in everage are more durable ( as phones) and I hope that these new Panasonic phones will show no software problems and high durability ( we will see in six months from now).
I also agree that Sharp 902 camera is slightly better than VS7 (to me though it is still not a replac3ment for a basic 3mp Panasonic or Cannon camera).
But I don't like Nokia N90 (No vibration, and I strongly believe the Carl Zeiss over there is a gimmick, other wise why they didn;t put the same lrns in n70 model? Or why isn'r Sony Ericsson using them? ( Sony dig. cameras are all equipped witth Carl Zeiss).

Panasonic VS7, the speaker sux, the camera have problem that take everything in yellow colour unless under sun, the ringtone not loud enough, poor battery life, the bluetooth for only files within 1mb, signal is so-so only, internal memory without card slot maximum take 50+ photo in greatest quality.

@ Open-Minded (how funny)
==========================
What do you mean by "rip-off"? There is nothing special about this phone either. A 2MP module ain't new and I hope it isn't an interpolated 1.3MPx module anyway...
No card slot, that is pretty lame. A resolution of 2MPx produces large images, up to 1MB per photo. How are you supposed to store that?
And btw...the information on here must not be correct, the official Panasonic web site doesn't mention a card slot, or an MP3 player function.
Screen Quality
==============
Don't be fooled. The screen itself only supports 65k color (source: panasonic web site)! It is the software that produces the
24-bit colors, but ONLY for JPEG.
Similar to what the SHARP GX22 could do, 262k for JPG images.
The rest is in 65k.
But thats ok, because this is how every LCD screen works anyway, software needs to be there to push those colors.
PANASONIC vs. SHARP
===================
Panasonic and the rest of the manufacturers have completely separate goals. Panasonic makes affordable, middle-class mobile phones! SHARP and partly NOKIA produce high-quality, upper-class handsets like the V-Series (V802SH, V902SH etc.) and N-Series (N90/91, N70). These cannot be compared to Panasonic.
2.2 and 3.2MPx modules with in-built optical zoom is a serious advantage that no other manufacturer can currently offer!
Panasonic is good, but ain't the best.

Finally, the first 2mp phone that is not overpriced ( since this is not a replacement for 2mp digital camera), unless yo ugo to a favorite welectronics site.
PROS:
-Excellent 2.5 inches screen of a high quality!
-Good ring tone and earpiece sound quality
-Solid and mature phones look!
-Decent batterry life!
What else do you need from a phone?
(remember 2mp without optical zoom, flash and basic camera features is not a magic)
That is why all other brands such as: Sony Ericsson k750, Sharp 903, and especially Nokia n90: All of them are simply rip off!

oh yes you're right Michael, just visited Panasonic's site http://panasonic.co.jp/pmc/products/en/vs7/specifications.html this model doesn't have any memory expansion like mini SD or anything... disappointed with this one, hope next year Panasonic will really make mobile phones with expandable memory, fm radio, 2mp or higher resolution camera with flash, mp3/aac, etc player with support for playlist of course with bluetooth too, plus maybe use symbian 9.1 as their OS not to forget a 3.5mm jack for standard stereo earphones! by the way SA7 doesn't also have mini SD slot!

go there, it says it does have BT and everything else. Why dont you people do a little bit of researching of your own about phones rather then complain on here it doesn't have this or that. If you can make it to this web-site, then you must be smart enough to go to the manufacturers website to check out more specs. USE the internet to its full potential!!!!

Bluetooth for VS 7 as stated but no mention of expansion cards, even for the MX6.
Disappointing though.
