PlayGalaxy Link beta goes live for Galaxy S10 users, will add more flagships next month

Samsung has expanded the coverage of the PlayGalaxy Link beta. The app streams a game running on your PC to your Galaxy smartphone. This service is similar to Nvidia GameStream and Valve’s Steam Link Anywhere.

Owners of Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ were the first to get the service, now Galaxy S10 owners can join in. The list of supported devices will expand in early December with the Galaxy S9, Note9, A90 and Fold.

Regional availability was expanded too, the service now covers the following countries: South Korea, US, UK, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Singapore, and Russia (it started with just the US and South Korea).

PlayGalaxy Link connects your phone directly to your PC using Wi-Fi or mobile data (4G or 5G). This keeps latency as low as possible, but if you happen to find yourself in an area with a spotty connection, the Adaptive FPS feature will kick in.

Since the game runs on your PC, you get better performance and graphics without putting a strain on your phone’s battery. Also, you don’t have to pay twice for a game – once for the PC and then for the Android port – but you can play on both platforms (including resuming play where you left it at home).

The PlayGalaxy Link app you install on your PC will automatically scan for any games you have installed and they will show up on your phone. You can add games manually as well. Note that Windows 10 is required. You’ll also want a game controller – Bluetooth or wired will do.
