I've carried the Ram 8 for the last 2 months. It's a pretty good option if you're looking for a durable, waterproof alternative to smart phones. It has some quirks: words cannot be added to the T9 dictionary, battery life is drastically reduced when playing music via bluetooth, text input must be done more slowly when playing music, camera is okay in daylight but useless in darker environments.

I was not able to edit the APN settings either, but I did find a simple way to get the MMS working for me. You need to go to Message Settings in the Message folder, and then select Multimedia message. Then select Data account, then select Primary account and scroll down until you find the provider listed through which you bought your SIM card. For me, it was H2O Wireless, the 9th option down. With that provider selected, press OK and it will save it as your primary account, instead of the AT&T account which the phone came configured with. Just like that, the MMS began to work on my phone. Another tip: If you want your picture messages to save in the Sent folder, you will also need to enter Common settings, then Sending, then scroll down to Send and save and toggle it to On. Also, in Compose, set Picture resizing to Off, otherwise all the photos you send to others will be blurry. Hope this helps!

When it does text, chatting with 1 person is not in a continued folder type of thing that you can delete as 1 but instead comes as individual message, reply's are the same way, AFTER you go to your outbox. No calculator, user unfriendly, will go back to my LG. As a personal note, Motorola Quantum was the best ever made for my use, sadly they discontinued service to that great phone.

I cannot send a pic or receive a pic. and text messages sometimes go thru and sometimes not. Im about to see how rugged it is against this brick wall!

The phone is very easy to set up, just need to sit down and use it. APN settings are located in Menu + Settings + Connectivity + Data Account. If you cannot set the phone up yourself, go to your wireless provider and ask them for help.

Setting up custom ringtones and alerts is easy if you know what you're doing. What you need to do is go to "User Profiles" in the menu screen then select "Options" then "Customize" everything else is self-explanatory.

All I want is phone to text and make calls. I want a flip phone because I will physically destroy an i-phone. This phone seems rugged enough, BUT there is no respone from the "support" desk at this company. I need to edit the APN setting for my carrier in order to receive group texts. I follow the instructions in the "manual" but unlike the manual, the phone does not allow the APN setting to be edited. And, since I cannot get a response from the
"support" desk, I guess I am screwed. Just phone and single texts. This whole cell phone thing is an absolute pain in the ass.

Ja, 06 Nov 2020There is no such thing as a mini SIM card. Ur wrong sir. Mini-SIM is a format that you put in regular older mobile phone like almighty nokia 3310 😁 SIM card as the first form factor was size of credit card and was used in payphones, so hence the mini-SIM.

The good news: I use a phone to talk to people, and only occasionally to text. I think this phone will do what I want. The bad news: I bought this not realizing it was incompatible with what my carrier calls their "Super LTE Network." That meant I had to wait for my carrier to send me a different SIM card before I could get connected. The extra wait just added insult to injury - having to wait longer in order to get a lesser network. Also, the manual that came with the phone is titled "Quick Start Guide" which is an appropriate name; but I would like to go beyond that. Maybe it's because I'm not highly tech savvy, but I need a little more detail on some things. There is a short tutorial on the Plum website, and a commenter here mentioned looking on YouTube, so I will try that. As far as quality is concerned, I have not made a call on the phone yet; therefore I can't say how well the microphone and speaker work, nor whether the battery life lives up to expectations.

This Ram 8 by Plum Mobile was advertised as 4g and 3G compatible and see on here it is only a 3G Phone. They are on the way out. I just opened it an hour ago. So it is going back as false advertising.
