Pocophone F1 gets stable MIUI 10.3.4 with HD video streaming support, Game Turbo, 4K60 recording

Today Xiaomi has started rolling out a new software update for the Pocophone F1. It's still based on Android 9 Pie, of course. Once you install the 515MB download, which arrives over-the-air, you'll be running MIUI 10.3.4, with the March 2019 security patch level.

That, however, is the least interesting part of this update. The much anticipated Widevine L1 support is finally baked into a stable MIUI release for the Pocophone, and this means you'll be able to stream HD videos on services such as Netflix. Better late than never? You'll be the judge.

Next up, Xiaomi brought Game Turbo to the Pocophone F1, as seen in the last beta release. This should boost your gaming experience on the handset, akin to Huawei's GPU Turbo. The feature made its debut in Xiaomi's roster with the launch of the Mi 9, and now it's already ported to the Pocophone.

It also lets you clear the memory, take a screenshot, start recording, toggle Wi-Fi on or off, and switch between SIM cards without ever leaving your game - all of these options can be controlled through an overlay pop-up. You can use that to access apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and the browser too, while inside a game. The apps open in a floating window.

From this point on face unlock can be used to lock specific apps, and on that subject the face unlock function itself comes with a bunch of bug fixes.

Finally, 4K60fps video recording is now supported, and the camera app gets new AI modes too, because the world clearly needed more of those.

At the moment, the over-the-air rollout seems to only have reached a small number of users, but that's expected to change in the following days.
