Gamers, don't buy this phone!
It's a downgrade from Realme 3. The only upgrade is video stabilisation (Eis) and a poor ultra wide camera.
Realme 3 vs Realme 5:
1. Performance: Realme 3 is better.
(i) Realme 3 handles PUBG smoothly on HDR Graphics (GFX Tool). Realme 5 can only run it on low graphics.
(ii) The Benchmark scores of Helio P60, P70 & SD 660 are higher than SD 665.
(iii) Games have to be optimised for chipsets. Currently, SD 665 can't play any heavy game on high graphics. Its performance is same or worst than SD 636 for now.
2. Battery: Realme 5 is better (small margin).
(i) Realme 5 battery lasts only 30 minutes longer than Realme 3 in PUBG.
(ii) Both phone needs to be charged after 2 days, so we can ignore the difference.
Zenfone Max Pro M1 & M2 offer 2-3 day battery timing if you want that.
3. Quality: Realme 3 is better.
(i) In drop tests, Realme 3 didn't suffer any damage from 10 feet drop. It's the strongest phone from Realme so far.
(ii) Realme 3 screen is more scratch resistant than Realme 5 in scratch tests.
(iii) Realme 5 quality is still good, but fitting of its parts is very lose.
- Its screen displaced from its frame in durability test.
- Made cracking sounds in bend test.
- In a different durability test, its camera lens got displaced from its frame.
4. Selfie camera: Realme 3 is better (small difference).
(i) They have *same* selfie camera, but due to bad optimisation, Realme 5 selfie camera doesn't work good in low light (inside house).
(ii) In daylight, they're the same.
5. Back camera: Realme 5 wins
(i) Realme 3 offers slightly better picture quality.
- Realme 3 offers sharper images due to +1MP, while Realme 5 offers tiny bit more details due to +0.012 aperture size.
(ii) Realme 5 offers Eis (video stabilisation) which Realme 3 lacks. It doesn't work good but something is better than nothing.
(iii) Realme 5 has ultra wide angle camera which is very wide. However,
- It doesn't work for videos, only pictures.
- The picture quality of ultra wide camera is very poor.
I would only use it for landscape shots of sceneries. Not group pictures.
(iv) Realme 5 might offer higher FPS slow motion than Realme 3, because SD 665 supports up to 120 FPS video recording.
(v) Realme 5 has macro lens, but it doesn't have any real life usage.
And it's very difficult to get pictures focus. They mostly turn out shaky.
