With the memory capacity of phones now they don't really need an SD slot and there are plenty of programs for transferring data by other means.

You can also get USB C to 3.5 adapters so again it's not needed. Battery life on phones has now improved considerably with the bigger batteries and power optimization so you really don't need to worry about charging and listening at the same time.
