Realme GT5 unveiled with 150W and 240W versions, up to 24GB RAM
Realme’s super-powered phone has arrived on schedule – to summarize the Realme GT5, we only need to tell you that its top version has 24GB of RAM and 240W fast charging. And that top shelf version isn’t that much more expensive than the base model, which is more restrained but still powerful.
There are two versions of the phone – 150W and 240W. The former comes with either 12/256GB or 16/512GB memory configuration, costing CNY 3,000 or CNY 3,300, respectively (a currency conversion for reference: $410/€380/₹34,500 and $450/€420/₹38,000).
The 240W version has only one memory configuration with 24GB of RAM and 1TB storage. This model costs CNY 3,800 (that’s $520/$480/₹43,500). Note that the different charge systems are paired with different battery capacities: 5,240mAh for the 150W one and 4,600mAh for the 240W one.
Let’s talk about the 240W charging system. If the battery is flat, plugging in for just 80 seconds will get you to 20%. The 150W version is no slouch either – despite the larger battery capacity it needs to fill, it can get to 50% in just 7 minutes.
Whichever version of the Realme GT5, you will get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset (the original one). Heat is managed by a 9-layer cooling system with 20,827mm² vapor chamber.
Moving on to the display, it is a flat 6.74” AMOLED panel with 1,240 x 2,772px resolution (20:9). The display renders colors in 10-bit and has 100% coverage of DCI-P3. Its peak brightness is 1,400 nits and it uses 2,160Hz high frequency PWM dimming.
The display runs at 144Hz refresh rate. However, the Adreno GPU doesn’t have to do all the heavy lifting to render graphics as it is paired with a X7 display chip that does frame insertion to boost the game’s FPS.
Going around the back, there is 50MP main camera based on a Sony IMX890 sensor (1/1.56”). This 24mm lens has an f/1.9 aperture and OIS. Next to it is a 112° ultra wide camera with 8MP resolution, plus a 2MP macro module. Also nearby is the LED light that frames a Snapdragon logo, it can light up in 26 colors and has 5 levels of brightness adjustment. The selfie camera uses a 16MP sensor (S5K3P9).
Let’s talk about connectivity for a moment. The GT5 is a dual-SIM 5G phone. It is also equipped with four Wi-Fi antennas with Wi-Fi 7 support. There is also a Bluetooth antenna (supporting v5.3) with aptX HD, LHDC, LDAC and LC3 audio codecs.
A few other features worth mentioning include the stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, plus an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback. The phone is Hi-Res Audio and Dolby certified, but doesn’t have a wired 3.5mm headphone jack. There is a fingerprint reader on the front with 0.25s reaction time. Positioning is handled by 3-band GPS (L1+L2+L5).
Both versions of the Realme GT5 are now available for pre-order from Realme’s Chinese store, sales will start on September 4 (next Monday). There are two colors to choose from: Silver with a mirror finish and Green with a matte finish.

Because this is how they get the SD8G2 and 240W charging into a ¥3000 phone? Better cameras would turn this into a ¥3500-4000 phone at least.
