Realme Pad review

Display

The Realme Pad employs a 10.4-inch IPS LCD screen of 2,000 x 1,200px resolution making for 15:9 aspect ratio and good 224ppi sharpness. The screen is covered by a flat tempered glass.

The panel on the Realme Pad supports the standard 60Hz refresh rate, and it cannot show HDR content.

Realme is advertising 360 nits of typical maximum brightness and 2 nits of minimum brightness when in Night and/or Reading mode. We can confirm both - in fact, the Realme Pad screen exceeds the maker's promises.

We measured a maximum brightness of 404 nits when manually adjusting the brightness and 455 nits when using Auto mode and facing a bright light source. The screen is capable of nicely deep black levels, and its contrast is excellent at 1500:1.

We've measured a minimum of 1.7 nits of brightness at point white, another great result.

The software suite on the Realme Pad does not offer screen calibration settings, and you are stuck with the default factory configuration. The sRGB accuracy is not bad with punchy and lively colors, but there is an obvious blue shade across the white and gray colors. Hopefully, you don't mind that.

DCI-P3 gamut is not supported on the Realme Pad.

Finally, the Realme Pad comes with Widevine L1 support, so you will be able to enjoy streaming content in Full HD resolution.

Battery life

The Realme Pad is powered by a 7,100mAh battery - the capacity seems adequate even if it's not the largest we've seen. For comparison, the Apple iPad 10.2" model packs an 8827mAh cell.

The Realme Pad clocked some good numbers on our battery tests. It lasted 12 hours and 42 minutes on our web browsing test. Then it looped our video for more than 10 hours before its battery dropped to 10%.

We got the LTE-enabled Realme Pad for this review, so we couldn't miss the opportunity to test its calls, and it did alright by clocking 31 hours.

All these are some solid numbers for a tablet.

Charging speed

The Realme Pad supports 18W fast charging, and its retail bundle contains such 5V/2A (10W), 9V/2A (18W) power adapter. It's not that fast, but it shouldn't be a slouch either.

The 18W charger refills 23% of the Pad's dead battery in 30 minutes.

The Realme Pad also supports reverse charging, and its 7,100mAh can double as a power bank, but you will need to buy a USB-C-to-C cable so you can make this work.

Speakers

The Realme Pad features four symmetrical speakers - two on each shorter side. They sound quite loud, and the balance is great. The setup supports Dolby Atmos, and the enhancement is on by default.

So, the Realme Pad speaker quartet aced our loudness test and scored an Excellent mark! Indeed, it sounds plenty loud, and we can hear balanced output with good mid-tones, some highs and barely noticeable bass.

Our quality chart confirms this - the Realme Pad lacks in the low notes and its high tones aren't as good as the Mi Pad 5's. Still, for multimedia purposes, we found its sound rather nice in a non-testing environment, and we didn't feel it shallow.

Use the Playback controls to listen to the phone sample recordings (best use headphones). We measure the average loudness of the speakers in LUFS. A lower absolute value means a louder sound. A look at the frequency response chart will tell you how far off the ideal "0db" flat line is the reproduction of the bass, treble, and mid frequencies.
