Redmi Buds 5 debut with noise cancellation and long battery life

Alongside the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 series, the company also announced its budget Redmi Buds 5 TWS headphones, which now offer some flagship-grade features. A big step up from the previous generation.

The most notable feature of the new Redmi Buds 5 is the 46 dB noise cancellation, which you can be adjusted too. The software allows you to choose between three noise-cancelling modes and three transparency modes when you need the outside sound.

Noise cancellation works for calls as well and Xiaomi markets a new AI-powered algorithm that aids the two noise-cancelling microphones.

Audio quality is also improved as the set features a long precision-wound coil and 12.4mm drivers with titanium-coated diaphragm. And battery life is another standout feature of the Buds 5. Accounting for the charging case, the pair can go for 40 hours of playtime, while a fast-charging solution allows you to listen for two hours with only five minutes of charging.

The Redmi Buds 5 brings a new, more ergonomic design and a special edition Buds 5 are developed in collaboration with the clothing company AAPE. The camouflage paint job gives it away.

Of course, the announcement is meant for the Chinese market, but we expect the pair to make it outside of the country. The price for the standard edition is just CNY 199 ($27), while the AAPE edition asks CNY 299 ($40).
