Refreshed Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) launches quietly with a new chipset
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is so good that Samsung is releasing it a third time. The original launched in 2020, then there was a 2022 re-release with minor changes (mostly the chipset) and now there is a 2024 model. And when we say “there is”, we mean that Samsung Romania is already selling it, even though we haven’t seen a press release or any other announcement. Oh well.
The basics are still the same – a 10.4” LCD (2,00 x 1,200px, 15:9), S Pen included, 7,040mAh battery. And there is both Wi-Fi and LTE versions, for those that want connectivity on the go (if tethering isn’t an option).
There is a new chipset in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024), though Samsung doesn’t say which one. It lists an octa-core processor with 2.4GHz and 2.0GHz cores, whereas the 2022 model (with a Snapdragon 732G or 720G) had 2.3GHz and 1.8GHz cores. Unofficial info claims that the chipset is Exynos 1280.
The base RAM and storage capacities are still 4GB and 64GB, with a microSD slot to add more storage. There will be a 128GB model as well, but it’s not up on Samsung.com just yet. The tablet runs Android 14 with One UI 6.1 out of the box. The 2022 model (which had a similarly quiet launch) came with Android 12 and One UI 4.0 (and was updated to 6.0 recently).
The tablet promises up to 14 hours of video playback and 12/13 hours of web browsing (on LTE/Wi-Fi, respectively). There’s no word on the charging speed, but both previous Tab S6 Lite models only did 15W.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is available in Mint and Gray, only in 4/64GB configuration. Neither the Wi-Fi model nor the LTE one have prices listed for now. We will keep an eye out for the new model in other regions. Note that one of the images shows a third colorway, but it's not available in the store.
