LG G Pad 8.3 review: Couch surfer

25 October 2013
Android slates are available in almost every screen diagonal under the sun, and LG had plenty of targets to aim for, planning their return to the tablet game. An 8.3-inch display looks like the right choice, considering how the scene has changed in the...

Great review. Sounds like serious competition for Nexus 7 2013. I was about to buy nexus 7, but i'll wait and try out LG G Pad first.I like the bigger screen..it's much wider. Only thing i don't like is LG UI. Nexus is 32 GB, LG only 16 GB, but LG is expandable. I read PDF's so guess the LG is the better choice. 10" is too big and too heavy to hold when reading in bed. 8.3" is perfect.

"Google's 2013 edition Nexus 7 is also a serious contender in this category, as it sports the same screen resolution panel on a 7-inch diagonal"
Thats not correct. The Nexus 7 ist a 16:9, while the LG ist 16:10, which is for me a big difference.

the 7 hour battery life cripples this device. if you play graphics intensive games, it might not even last 2 hours. you'll end up charging it twice a day.

Hey GSMA you know youv'e got to compare this to the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 right? Maybe even compare LG G2 + Gpad8 vs Samsung GS4 + GTab8.... :)

Im using a 10.1" tablet as a replacement to netbook. An 8.3" tablet is too small. I agree to 6" smartphone, but for a tablet, it should be 10.1" is the minimum screen size. On my opinion, tablets are more advantage than the netbook. Hoping that manufacturer will make a bigger screen like 12" like sony, but in affortable price.

the battery life is a huge letdown. 7 hours of usage per charge is a disappointment.

I really wish android for tablets goes back to honeycomb design guidelines, at least the notification area, the on screen buttons and the task switching interface.
