Thanks for your interesting reviews of both the Surface 2 and this Lumia 2520. I enjoyed reading both, but this review mentions the Tegra processor and Surface 2, when describing this tablet.
I am using the previous generation Samsung Ativ Tab with RT8.1, which fullfills most of my computing/tablet needs.
With a stand and an external Thinkpad Compact keyboard email, Word and Excel works very well. The browser is quite smooth and fast compared to my Android tablets. The screen is much better than TN displays of most laptops, the tablet has no fans and the Thinkpad keyboard has good tactile response. Battery life is 8-10 hours of normal use. In many ways better than using a much faster "standard" laptop.

FYI, few years ago, Nokia designed and marketed Nokia 770 & Nokia 800 as "tablet"
so this thing is not the first tablet from Nokia.

Where can o... moreAs the owner of an iPad Air, Note 10.1, Surface RT/2 and several other tablets, I find my Lumia 2520's combination of size, weight, build, ergonomics, battery life and overall value (23gb of useable storage, LTE, REAL MS Office and a full/desktop quality browser - At No Additional Cost), makes it the better of them all.
My iPad Air is not only ludicrously over-priced for a model comparably specced (Lumia 2520 32gb/LTE - US 499.00 vs iPad Air 32g/LTE = US 728.00), but my iPad Air's build quality/durability is quite noticeably inferior not only the Lumia 2520, but any other generation of iPad prior e.g. hold it by the corner when reading or even lightly press on the display and it 'pools' very disconcertingly or tap on the screen and it emits a very hollow/plasticy sound. Not to mention almost every drop/durability test performed on the iPad Air shows it to dent and crack quite easily.
As far as Windows RT is concerned, I find it quite laughable that few (if any) have ever complained that the iPad can't run OS X applications yet they lob nonsensical complaints that RT happens NOT to run Windows 'legacy' application that were never designed for touch-screen devices anyway.
Nokia's decision to utilize RT pays off quite well as the Lumia 2520 delivers outstanding battery life, excellent build quality, reasonable weight, excellent display/outdoor visibility/font rendering via Clear Type, a well-stocked/ever-growing app store, and speedy/fluid operation ALL while eliminating ANY user concerns regarding downloading.installing 'legacy' applications that could include malware/viruses that might harn the device.
Bottom Line: The Nokia Lumia is easily one of the very best tablet deals existent, especially as Nokia is currently including the Keyboard Case/Extended Battery For Free.

The video audio is terrible. Noise cancellation makes a metallic hiss, and all other noise seems lost. very unimpressed by it.

I think it looks good. I wouldn't worry to much about the et. It has most apps you will need. But rt will leave us by 2015.it will merged with windows phone. Making your tablet an android and apple killer. So get one. Windows will only have 2 os soon.

just being curious. can anybody tell me what apps will I miss buying Lumia tablet if 95% I do is browsing?
what if whatever you need is accessible by browser?
games? sorry but I'm not 15YO, and most games on tablets or phones are just silly and rubbish.
by experience, I use just few apps on my smartphone and do not really need any more. I'd rather use my brain instead!

True that windows is a lot more productive than android and the ipad. The lumia 2520's design and screen is great and all, but if one wants to get a windows tablet then it will be better to get a full win 8.1 tablet instead. There are nicely designed and also cheaper ones out now. Plus the lumia tab's audio quality was shown to be bad in the review.

Seriously, if it had Atom and full Windows it would be reasonable. Clearly RT is going to be dead within a year or max two.

The store has nice 3rd party youtube apps like Hyper and Metrotube. These replace the official youtube app easily.
But how did you watch MKV files on RT? I cant get it to work because the player doesnt support the codec..

I dont agree with your comment that "as you know, mobile platforms these days are judged first by the number and quality of third-party apps available". Judged by who? Quality? Are you kidding? It is the 90/10 rule at best where 10% of the apps have 90% or more of the market. The are about 20 decent third party apps in the market and the rest are not great indeed. So by your own reckoning Android should be last. I wont have Android in any case because of its security issues. However I believe this Nokia device has a future for the very reason you suggest - full Office integration. I have seen idiots thinking an iPad is a full business tool and stuff large business transactions because the iPad cannot do the job required. So Yes to Nokia, and no to worthless apps. Commentators need to note whether you want a toy for children or a business tool.

On this "... more tablet-friendly Android and iOS." I disagree. I abandonned iOS for Android and still am unsatisfied with performance and UX. Lot's of problams can be assigned to third part app makers. But still, even native apps are hardly user friendly.
Havent used WinRT tablet yep, but already think it's more user friendly than boring ios and unfriendly android.
