6 January 2014
We recently had the chance to get some hands-on time with Sony's new flagship in miniature, the Xperia Z1 Compact. The little fella packs flagship-grade specs into a much smaller footprint than most of today’s premium smartphones...

in terms of hardware design, sony is still the best in class, with their own design language and style.

though sony tends to suck abit on the software functionality and updates.

    Nokia has best.
Samsung has best Android. Even makes better use out of Sony's own sensor.
Sony has best snapper on flagship grade of Android.

It seems funny that this phone is now considered 'mini/compact' when 4"-4.5" screens were considered 'large' a year ago and 5" screens are a bit too large for most people to use one hand.

Considering the size of the phone Sony could have just put a 4'5 or 4'7 inch screen to the z1 compact.. I will definetly buy one if it comes with one of those screen size.
Samsung will also introduce galaxy s5 soon and if it waterproof then I will prefer to go with Samsung

Rdmkr, 09 Jan 2014too bad they stuck to this water proofness gimmick instead ... moreActualle Water Damage and Drops are the biggest reason for broken phones by a very large percentage...

And making a waterproof phone with bigger bezels usually lead to a better built construction and protection of the screen itself... (including the great shatterproof sheet some people complain about)

So I rather have a slightly bigger phone that needs no extra case, than having a small bezel phone that requires a hugeass otterbox or ballistic rubber/plastic case covering a nice design

And hey, I love my underwater/sea pictures... people are amazed by it and I have never receive a critic about the size of my Acro S (which was not bad in bezel but thick overall)

Don't see too many people complaining about bezels on the iPhone which relative to its size has the biggest bezels of any phone, probably! No problems with the iPhone either as far as I'm concerned but not a fan of 4" screen! Probably not a fan of 4.3" either but I still like this phone although prefer to stick with my 5" screen phones and my 5.2" one!

Limited, 10 Jan 2014Why you always complain about the bezels? if you dont like ... morethe size of the phone doesn't matter but the excess useless skin between the screen and the phone edge does, I just like to see a phone with screen size almost equivalent to the phone size that's wat thin bezel means.....

People are getting stupider these days. sony has A LOT of other wallpaper to choose from, or you can easily download other picture to use to. that is never a problem for any phone.

when you dont have any issue on sony, just dont blatantly think of other unnecessary issues. it just makes you become dumb. i pity you my friend.

Oh, I see those are the actual dimensions of the "compact", not what it loses (shaves off) the original Z1.

                                      Nevermind the previous comment.

From the article: "manages to shave off just over 9mm in width and 127mm in height" -- What!? I'm pretty sure there is a dot missing somewhere in those 127mm. Shaving off 12.7cm is quite a lot, specially when the Z1 only has 14.4cm!
