Apple iOS 8 preview: Opening Up

24 July 2014
It's the kind of thing to be happening in a galaxy far, far away. Apple opening up iOS to developers, while Google is moving towards an Apple-like unified experience across platforms and screen sizes. The simplest way to put it is that Material Design...

So many little updates and yet none of them are that overly exciting, especially when you have an Android device and a lot of this is basic for you. Anyone who is curious about iOS 8 should look at the reviews on YouTube. The update is just a few additions to iOS 7. Apple still will not give the ultimate power to their users.

Samsung is going to have a mega painful quarter after the iPhone launch, compounded by the fact it's leaking sales to Android rivals to boot.

As reported on this website and many others, a director of Google said Android was created with ease of use in mind (market share), not security. It has also been reported on this website of the issues with KNOX, ie, it fails to deliver. Android leaks like a sieve, and open to innovative hackers. It also collects massive amounts of free private data which it markets to who ever thinks the material is useful.

If you don't want google collecting personal information about you then sign up to gmail with an e-mail address that you'll never use except for connecting the phone to google play. Don't provide personal information about you when you sign up.

After that, just add your actual gmail account that you regularly use to your e-mail, calendar app on the phone.

Google will still get the information for selling ads, but it won't be directed back to you.

As for purchasing Android apps, I use one account only for that and don't connect to any phone with it. I download the apps to my PC and can easily transfer the APKs to the phone and install through the file manager (something the iphone doesn't do - allow access to the file system):

                        http://www.tecnigen.com/2013/07/14/download-android-apps-games-google-play-store-pc/

So you don't have to pay the silly premium for an Apple iphone with its limited functionality and can still keep your privacy.

Btw, I don't even check gmail since I only created an account there to use the Play Store, so frankly that doesn't affect me. I don't really understand what your problem with ads is, as you said it's the main way for google to make money, which is great for costumers since we get Android phones for cheap prices and good quality.
To sum it up I'd rather get a great Android device for 300$ (Nexus 5) with ads in my gmail account, instead of a freaking iphone which will cost me more than 700$ (mind you, with no ads)

Love it. I think with the way all three platforms are converging on functionality pretty soon the difference will be down to which ecosystem you have more investment and after sales service.

Apple has no incentive to sell your data again is different niche of business main revneu comes from selling products phones ipads computers meanwhile google revnue comes from selling your data to third parties and giving free services so you comparing apple to oranges. Here to explain it better so you can grasp it

You're sayin... moreHow is the same using itunes account to buy apps integrating your account with gmail? Gmail first of all is stand alone service. The main revenue of gmail comes from selling your data to third parties as adds.Google Constantly scan your gmail emails in order to adapt the adds to whatever is on your email. Meaning data mining and selling your data. beside that when you use their engine and you are in gmail all the history is recorded and they bombard you even more adds related to it. So again selling your data further. Now add gmail which does all as main account and have it in your phone for all the time. Is a disaster in making. Buts since you don't grasp the idea here is a article covering it:

                                        http://www.salon.com/2014/02/05/4_ways_google_is_destroying_privacy_and_collecting_your_data_partner/

Apple from other side has no incentive to sell your data to third parties when you creating a itunes account you not creating another product as gmail nor your data of all your device and history will be sold to third party adds. Apple revenue again for last time comes from selling products iphone ipad not services which relyon third parties to create revenue as google does android/ google engine/ gmail ect.
                                        http://www.salon.com/2014/02/05/4_ways_google_is_destroying_privacy_and_collecting_your_data_partner/

Again no you wrong 13 down vote current iOS devices running iOS 5 and over (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) are capable of being standalone devices and don't need itunes to transfer songs/videos photos and even apps. You can use third parties alternatives.
