Can you get rid of android on its own or the need to have a gmail to get apps? The whole point is android is part of google ecosystem, is not like you talking a something that google doesn't own and you can replace it.

But to disregard the ecosystem is a massive oversight on your part. Windows Phone is also a fantastic OS, but BB and WP are let down by the ecosystem.
iOS has the best ecosystem by far in terms of app store, itunes, icloud. This is massively important to most people. I work in a phoneshop and I have seen many people disregard Windows Phone because a particular app is not available for it.
An OS could be the best on the planet, without the apps and surrounding ecosystem, unfortunately these days, you dont stand a chance

some funny people here. calling out 'isheep' and apple fanboys, yet all im reading is some sort of wierd android love that is so misguided.
Apple copying Android features in iOS 8. Are we quickly forgetting how Android practically rewrote their whole original operating system to compete and copy iOS? Android copied iPhone for years!
No features in iOS 8 that arent available in other platforms? Which OS has features like continuity and handoff, actual day to day useful features. The new model for data sharing between apps may have already been in android, but what were talking about here is a way of doing it, securely, fast and keeping your data protected.
And lets not forget to take a step back and look at the general reasons why iPhone is better. The ease of use, nobody has a service as well integrated as iCloud for backup and the like. The speed and experience. punch for punch better than any android device. The quality build, no android device matches.
You people need to get out of the clouds and stop thinking that MORE features are better. The features have to be worth it and not compromise speed and performance.
I appreciate that this being the website that it is, we are going to have a lot of users here that like the best specs, the most customisation etc, but Im sorry, your a small percentage of people. The experience just isnt the same as an iPhone for the average consumer. Proof is in the pudding when it comes to high end handset sales

As for security, Android is as secure as BB when you know how to use security features available on the Play Store, or via Samsung KNOX. Whether you accept it or not BB is dying. That's why they launched BBM on other platforms.

Oh so iTunes isnt a Apple product? Can you use any charger to charge an iphone? Can you transfer anything via bluetooth to any other OS? Can you use any cable to plug your iPad to a PC? Cause with an Android charger you can charge a Symbian phone, Ms phone, Blackberry. Thats what I meant by Apple forces you to use their products. I didnt mean "you HAVE to buy a Apple TV, but if you want to watch your iPhone videos on a big screen, THEN you will have to buy a Apple TV, you cant just use a Samsung Tv. READ before you open it.
I dont care if I have to open a gmail account to use my phone, really I dont mind. As for the spying thing, Apple does spy on its users too. it's not important whether they spy more or less than google, they just do.

What about BB and the Z30 for example. It has the best security (something important to you?), best reception, best signal, best battery life, and best OS of any of the mobiles on the market. Ok the some hardware could be improved but really have you tried the BB. The OS is a gem and better than google spyware, and better than apple OS. The management is the issue. People dont bother to use the BB OS 10.2.1 etc, and then say it is dead. Perhaps you and other would be really surprised just how good it is. Forget about all this ecosystem esoteric geek crap and go an use it. It is the best.

In contrary google main products is the search engine and revenue comes from ads basically mining and selling your data to third parties. Google forces on android to create gmail account in order to open a android store account. Its associates your ip your phone number with it. Google is the definition of for ocing their user to use their products> also not only that but goiogle was spaying on iphone users who used google as their engine

iOS8 looks really nice, but one thing I just hate about Apple is how they "force" you to use all of their products (cables, chargers, TVs) and apps (iMessage, iBooks, iTunes etc), while you can just hook up your Android to any PC without iTunes, charge your Blackberry with any charger and so on..
iOS really turns users into sheeps, without them noticing it. If they change their politics and allow users to use other products, and if they change the freaking expensive price tag, then I'll consider it. For now I'll stick with Android, which is the best option IMO.

Now that iOS starts to catch up in terms of features, and Android catches up in terms of quality, the real issue left is the price, which is too much for what iOS has to offer. In my opinion, that's where Android will win it

The stopped innovating and apple took over not only in every apsect but encryption also on iphones.I work with hedge found managers investment bankers portfolio managers and no one gives a damn about having it. They candaians are following the path of palm phone they to late to innovate.
