Motorola Moto X, Moto G and Moto 360 hands-on

5 September 2014
Motorola isn't at IFA this year but that didn't stop the future Lenovo subsidiary from announcing the long-awaited second generation of the Moto X and Moto G and the round Moto 360...

They should have increased the ram to 1.5GB and processor to 1.5Ghz and a little bump in the battery would have been good. All these changes would have made it a nice deal. Moto G 2014 is a disappointment. They have updated the moto X should have done something with the moto G too.

This is essentially another Nexus 5 but more premium. I hope that:

    - The Camera is better than last years with better software compression (they're using Sony now!) Ring Flash!!
    - The Battery life can at least last a day, even though its barely a bump up (2,330!)
    - Doesn't cost too much on/off contract.
    - Better antenna reception (over 500%), which will save a ton on the battery.
    - Active Display and more!

Interesting phone, though. 4 Antenna's and somewhat IP-ceritifed. Can't wait for the reviews.

VERY disappointed. Lots of COSMETIC improvements EXCEPT the most important, functional improvement, a BIGGER BATTERY. 2070mAh was barely adequate on the first 3G model, slightly in-adequate on the 4G LTE model. WHY would they make all those SLIGHT improvements and not, AT LEAST slightly increase the battery capacity? I was all set to order one til I saw that.......

For those who waited more from Moto, now it Lenovo owns the company. Well about the new range....yes could be better, but along with the other manufacters i think they are on par , not top notch but very well priced against the others, and the company is rising again, with solid offers, reliable phones...

My Moto G received the latests android updates and now I don´t have the 2-WAY CALL RECORDING CAPABILITY.

Does the NEW MOTO X solved this problem with a system update or Motorola is putting the same mistake on the new phones?

otorola failed to continue to succeed its phones. They had perfect chance to make real impact but sigh they will never learn.
New Moto G should have increased clock to 1.6 Ghz with same Snapdragon 400 and increased battery to 2300mAh as it has increased size to 5 inch there was enough space to accommodate these changes. These changes wouldn't have costed bomb to them.
I truly waited for New Moto X as I hoped it will change dynamics of phone usage but Motorola continues its stupidity with No MicroSD card and puny 2300mAh. After reading initial impressions on Anandtech they put so much effort into making phone antennas and all that but no one was smart enough to put bigger battery atleast 3000mAh. I think they don't know "Bada hai toh behtar h" philosophy is epic truth for current generation smartphone batteries. However smart technologies are put inside phone to reduce power consumption but in the end if there is small battery then it becomes dead weight before end of the day. Also, when most guys are using Sony IMX214 sensor why you guys used aging IMX135. Its just common sense dude use what is current gen in flagship product atleast.
Motorola is going in the same way as it went after super success of Moto Razr. It is again becoming blind and is not looking what is going around and what its competitors are doing.
Please guys learn from competition now or get sold one more time or worst get diluted in Lenovo in future.

Prophet, 05 Sep 2014Soooo happy I went for LG G2 now I read this... New moto x ... moreI should have done the same, gotten a 2013 flagship instead of waiting and waiting for nothing this whole 2014. Its really too bad that HTC One M7 is so shockingly long and worse that it is a HTC but display wise it has the best size vs pixel density ever, for me that is. G2 wasnt too bad size wise but the UI made me walk away and as usual no 32GB version could be found anywhere.

Why dont you.. since youre so good with phones, dont make your own phone?! And dont bother to bad mouth this manufacturer who at least do something to push for innovation, rather being like a kid whining for not getting what he wants?!

And of course they had to destroy the Moto G, its designed using the same method as all new phones in 2014: Take last years model and let a random housewife use a rolling pin on it and suddenly theres a new model, bigger and thinner.

I mean, 5" 720p is really BAD, but at 4.5 inch 720p quite acceptable for a midranger.

2014 is indeed a weird year for smartphones, nothing truly new has come to the market, just bigger and thinner everything, and all midrangers has been downgraded to quadcore Cortex A7, way below midrangers of 2013. The only "news" this year was the G3 with QHD but in the process it destroyed the nice size of G2 and the old type IPS display quality is so poor and consumes so much battery that its hard to consider G3 as anything else than a downgrade from G2.

I want a new phone but not a single phone has surfaced that i like, Huawei Ascend P7 disappointed bigtime with the bloated stupid UI, Z3 Compact is much to downgraded compared to Z3 and appears as an overpriced midranger with oversized chipset, wtf is that, CPU power is the only thing we DONT need more of now and then its the only thing Z3 Compact has to offer? Even Nexus phones have more flagship aspects than this and i find it extremely hard to view even Nexus 5 as a flagship grade phone.

They should have released the new Moto G with a faster Snapdragon 400 at least 1.5 Ghz or 64-bit Snapdragon 410 and at least 1.5 GB RAM.
