Manage to buy a 16GB mi3 in a flash sale for USD240 yesterday. Keen to experiment whether these Chinese phones can replace my 5S. Who knows, the mi3 might keep me happy until iphone 7 and if it can get me off the Apple bandwagon, better still. Apple is just too expensive and not worth upgrading every two years.

As an owner of Mi3 64gb model I wouldn't be so optimistic about these chinese phones. Yes, they both are looking great hardware-wise, but their software is not so awesome. Yes, it looks great as its usability is fine, but there are lots of small (and not so small) glitches that can really spoil the experience from time to time. Just to name a few: low volume and distorted sound when recording video (and it is not fixed even in Mi4!), partially working notification lights in Mi3, problems with call recorder, bad camera image quality and so on. And incomplete translation even to English.

From Monday I'm a proud owner of the Mi3 64gb model! Bought this baby for 300$ and shipped in Bulgaria. It's the best phone I've d had been in touch with from the past 2 years! It's just perfect, and one of the reasons why I didn't go for the Mi4 is the lack of availability on the market for the 64 gig and 4g, well it's still in presalle and that is expected :) But non the less the Mi3 was upgraded after 5 min. to 4.4.4 V6 of MiUi and it's blazing fast, worth every dollar! A friend of mine ordered the One 3 days before I got the Mi3, but I don't regret not going for the Oneplus.

Maybe i would already have an Mi3 if it wasnt for the storage limitation, they are very cheap here but noone has seen the 64GB model and the vendors are not aware of its existence. If only it had even 32GB i would seriously consider it but 16GB non expandable is of course a dealbreaker even at this price.

By the way, in some Asian markets the Xiaomi name is omitted, its simply known as the Mi3.

The Mi 4 is not LTE compatible in most network outside of China since it only supports TDD LTE (for now)...
