X, 28 Sep 2014OK, let me give you a lesson on memories, I see you need it... moreP.S. Each core has its own L0 and L1 caches, while the RAM(L2) is shared between them.
I nothiced on the Geekbench benchmark, that only the A8 CPU from the iPhone 6 uses the L0 and L1 chaches, while the Snapdragon processors don't. Strange, but if that's true, then the Snapdragon architecture really sucks.

Iridium, 28 Sep 2014You used the RAM sized memory for you flash memory calculat... moreOK, let me give you a lesson on memories, I see you need it.
A processing device(a device that uses a processor) needs memory to load data from.
For that there are available:
a) The main memory. Big, "slow" and "cheap".In the case of the phones, that's the Flash memory, of sizes from 8GB to 128GB.
b) The RAM memory. Small, "fast" and "expensive". It is used as a cache to stora data from the main memory.
c) More levels of cache. Each smaller and faster than the one below. Usually very small, 64KB for level "0", a few MB for level "1" cache. Level 0 is on the top, btw.
So, coming back to speed. The entire system is AT LEAST as fast as the slowest memory, the main memory, the Flash. Why? Because during the usage of the system, data from the caches/RAM needs to be replaced with data from the Flash memory, and I explained before how that works.
So, the iphone Flash memory is twice as fast as any Android phone Flash memory, because the bus between the Flash memory and the RAM is twice as wide. Period. There are other data buses, between the RAM and L1 cache, and between the L1 cache and L0 cache, and between the L0 cache and the CPU and GPU cores. If the RAM on the Note 4 has a quad channel bus, it is that bus is between the RAM and the four cores of the CPU, each channel is at 32 bits, but between the RAM and the Flash the bus is only dual channel at 32 bits each. On the iPhone the bus between the RAM and the Flash is dual channel at 64 bits, and the bus between the RAM and the CPU cores is quad channel at 64 bits each. For the Note, one CPU core has only one channel to the RAM(one operation at a time) and shares a channel with another core to the Flash(bottleneck). For the iPhone 6, each core has two channels to the RAM(two operations at a time) and one channel to the Flash(one operation, the most important, always guaranteed). So I hope is clear now for you, why the iPhone 6 is faster than the Note 4 or Edge. I do also hope that my lesson was not too difficult for you to comprehend.

I'm no Apple fan by any means but listing the infrared as a con is a bit much no? Also, yes the camera is still 8MP but it doesn't at all matter if the results are great.

Not sure if the iPhone is the best phone but it is definitely not like anything else. Samsung and the rest of the group cannot claim to be innovative as long as they all borrow Google's Android. They should sit down and create some nice new OS to give us more choice. I go for the iPhone not only because it is one of the best smarthphones but also because it is unique and different.

X, 28 Sep 2014Sorry but you missed the point. I've just given an example ... moreNo, your theory was heavily flawed and false to begin with. The whole calculation makes zero sense and even if we single out a single bench favoring tye iPhone (which isn't that conclusive), it's still not twice as fast.

Those iPhone 6 benchmarks were insane. Totally didn't expect iPhones to wipe the competition like that.

Iridium, 28 Sep 2014LOL. Cool story but even a 3.5 year old S2 can already pum... moreBtw, the subject is not the speed of RAM but the speed of the Flash memory. Totally different things. FYI, the RAM gets data from the Flash, at the speed of the Flash, and provides it further to the CPU/GPU at the speed of the RAM(which only makes sense to be faster than the Flash).
So, the Flash memory is twice as fast as the Ram in your 3.5 years S2. Pretty good, huh?

Iridium, 28 Sep 2014LOL. Cool story but even a 3.5 year old S2 can already pum... moreSorry but you missed the point. I've just given an example of what you could theoretically achieve with the memory speed of the iPhone. It doesnt mean that it happens. Of course you don't get the images for the screen from the Flash(you wouldn't need the GPU then). I just gave an example to make it easier to understand the differences between the devices. Still the main point is, the iPhone Flash memory is twice as fast as the memory on any Android device(due to double size bus) and that shows in the benchmarks.

I noticed this too - and I think it is that Apple must be rendering at 720p or 750p and upscaling, so the 6 plus can match the 6 at benchmarks. Of course, this is pretty huge if it were true; it would completely negate the benefits of the 1080p screen for anything that uses rendering! Can someone look into this further?

You have the Guts to argue with GSM Arena's review .
Please dont ever compare it to Gionee or other phone with half the prize or lower prize range. GSM arena talking about 1000 USD phone and when we say that. Consumer should atleast get premium and unique or should atleast put a bomb on its icrap to show this thing is unique wherein Apple Fails.
Sorry apple puts unique feature the ibanana thing.
