Apple iPhone 6 Plus review: Following the curve

30 September 2014
Apple caved to market pressure and created a phablet. This may sound as blasphemy but it’s not the first time Cupertino is seen reacting to rivals getting too confident, too aggressive – too close for comfort. The first iPad mini had to respond back in...

Switching from note2 to 5s was not problematic to me, as many people were assuming it to be but, rather it was pleasant, easy one hand use from browsing to text msgs. It seems many Apple fans were eagerly waiting for an Apple phablet coz they never experienced it for long rather used briefly of some friend. I think once Apple people will use phablets they will know it's not easy, u will have to sacrifice too much.

Everybody has diff opinions, iPhone 6 for me.. :)

It only looks like an ugly extension of a galaxy note 1 in truth untill you turn to the back where they have done, over the top bling, even if you liked it who keeps looking at the back, but no in essence its a stretched g note1 with a round home button, I went in with a white g n1 and the white 6plus even the store assistant said he though it looked identical specialy when the screen is off.

As for the price being the only barrier, thats hardly true is it, the note 3 is not inferior to this phone, and if when you review the note 4 range, if they live up to thier promise its not even a competion, and sales don't even come into the frame nowadays as an indication of the best phone, there are enough youtube videos showing that, if you dressed a trout up in an apple logo the same people would still buy it if they were told by apple it was the latest superior ugrade to they're current iphone (iwatch video was hilarious.)

Why on earth would CRApple think Android users would defect over to use this outdated spec'd iPhone when we have a far superior feature set in both hardware and software, we are not brainwashed by the pretty looks of Apple devices like the iSheeple are.

"The protruding camera is not up to Apple's perfectionism, but practically a non-issue if you use a case.", why pay this much for this aluminium design if it needs to be hidden i a cheap plastic... case?

Techmad, 30 Sep 2014Interesting thought there. However I will have to disagree ... moreFair point. I had actually taken a few shots with the G2, but not with the G3, so I guess I am guilty of going based on what others say :(

I did consider getting the LG, as I normally like LGs, but went with the Xperia instead. I did look at a number of shots taken with the LG3 online and it seemed as if the processing was rather heavy in lower light. At least it seemed heavier than the Xperia, and I ended up going with the Sony.

The iPhone 6+ definitely has a significantly better picture quality than the Sony, when viewed on a big screen.

You forgot to include OnePlus One in the rivals' section or you may thought that limited availability is enough reason not to mention at all. Anyway, if the above is not the case I do not understand how a brilliant phablet like OnePlus One with so great implementation and feature is not enough to compare. At least, the fraction of cost and comparative functionality give a lot extra points.

[deleted post]Interesting thought there. However I will have to disagree to your sentiments. G3 has on par image quality with the Iphone 6+ I own a G3 and know someone who just got a 6+. They're both really good imaging devices. I would love to hear your constructive criticism if it holds true in reality.

So this is one of the best smartphone/phablet in the market then, Camera is great, Performance is steller, Display is awesome, iBend don't bother me much, It's very tempting, but so is Note 4(which is tempting for its extreme specs, only TouchWiz is in the way). Yea its very pricy at the moment its price is about 1200USD. interested in 64GB version and lets give iOS(iPhone) a try then ;)

                                        Main disadvantages:
                                        1. Hard to use single-handedly, unimpressive screen to body ratio (6" Androids fit in the same footprint)

                                        2. No microSD slot

3.Pricey memory upgrades, 32GB version should be standard
                                        for such an expensive phone

                                        4. No user-replaceable battery

                                        5. Protruding camera lens makes the phone wobble if you don't have a case on

                                        6. Camera is still merely 8MP four years in a row (granted, it's getting better every with every new generation)

                                        7. No 4K video and video sound is still mono

                                        8. No enhanced resistance to liquids or dust

                                        9. NFC functionality limited to Apple Pay

                                        10. Rather pricey for a flagship (without carrier subsidies) that misses some of the extras of the competition, such as stereo speakers, wireless charging, an infrared port, or FM radio

                                        11. May be prone to bending that may also cause permanent deformity.

FTFY... and fwiw that's a way way too long of a cons' list no matter how much markdown you can get for its expected RRP. If you're one of those who can afford and want the top end 6 Plus 128Gb do yourself a favor just don't. Wait it out for some Note 4 specials to go on and get the base MBA 11 2014 while you're at it yeah it's that expensive unlocked, you can easily get a decent phone + subnotebook in 1 go!
