LG G Watch R review: A full circle

01 December 2014
Smartwatches have been around for a long time now, ever so reluctantly trying to infuse the tech spirit into one of the oldest accessories in the history of the world – the time piece. But a wrist watch is meant for more than telling...

                "The display is great"

Yeah, 320px resolution is great comparing to Atari 800 XL and Gameboy Color.

However, we have 21st century here. Hello?

Oh no, wait, you commented on the Internet so you must be using one of those computers/laptops/smartphones that are not "suggestible for long time use, technology will change every minute".

Before getting the LG G Watch R I was also thinking if it really is useful, or maybe I would get bored of it and just let it collect dust on a self. Well... after almost a month of daily use I can say that it is a lot more useful than I could have anticipated. First of all you can't forget your phone anymore, the Find My Phone app will buzz you the instant the watch loses the connection to the phone. It's very convenient, especially now in the cold weather, to quickly see the emails, SMS you get, control the music or see who's calling and answer (if wearing headphones). Those are really handy for me while I walk the dog, I never have to dig the phone out of the pockets. Same in the car, I often forget to take the phone out the pocket, now I can easily see who's calling and know if I need to pull over to get the phone. Replying to me SMSes or hangout messages by voice it's very nice, when you're cooking and have your hands dirty, if you have at least one clean finger press reply :) There are many other things, I'm still discovering new ways to use it.
Finally, on the vanity side, I am an early adopter, but this is the first piece of tech I was asked about by strangers.

I got this watch from my trip to korea three weeks ago. You have to test before any comment !!! Its fantastic, everybody will wonder when you have it on your hand. Design, build quality, easy user interface and even the weight are perfect. The battery lives less than two days but still is the best in class. The issue is there is no exact guide how to use it so you have to try and test, e.g. still I cannot check the weather on it. The google voice commander is not bad at all but still needs some improvement. The good thing is when I connect my galaxy aloha to my watch and my car audio player together, I can control the music by my watch completely and listen to music through my car speakers.
If u need any further let me know.

Basically I agree with you, Rolex is the default "I have money, just give me the best watch" watch, just the same as it is for iPhone and phones. It's been discussed on Watchuseek before. :-)
Nice watch you got there. Of course, watch freaks would say you should have bought a Patek Philippe, A. Lange & Sohne, Vacheron Constantin, Blancpain or maybe Breguet, but at least you didn't get a Submariner like everyone else. :-)

(not talking about the golden version, gold is still not for free)
The only thing that comes from Apple is the design (nothing to write home about, too feminine) and the software, that still has to prove itself.
B.Do you think that anyone will like to buy this watch secondhand?
I do not want a new one, even not for free.
