Samsung Galaxy A3 and A3 Duos review: A-ddictive

23 January 2015
The Samsung Galaxy A3 is the junior member of the company’s new metal-clad lineup. The least likely one to challenge the Alpha-dog but just as slim and sharp as the rest of its Galaxy A teammates...

I think the A5 in India is shipping with Lollipop. The ones I checked at the local Samsung showroom have the distinct Lollipop App switcher with the shuffling cards layout. The rest of Touchwiz is not too different with bits of Material Design thrown here and there, though I did not check the android version. Will do so on my next visit and post the results. If someone can confirm this, that would be great.

For a device under the premium segment with premium price a qHD res makes it less premium.

Here are some points I've made.
Why should I buy it :
-Affordable price for a premium phone, even for a budget-strict student like me.
-Good build quality, I've tested it on the mall
        -Compact, light and slim
        -Good camera
        Why should I not :
-qHD resolution, for such a big price compared to others and a premium built phone, this is a big let down. Yes, there is S.Amoled, but the 1st Gen Moto G had 4.5 inch and packed 720p with it, I don't see any reason why Samsung should put qHD on a phone that price.
-It's just an affordable phone for showing-off and to compare it with someone's iPhone, despite having a rather low screen res and aluminium build.
-The rivals had more decent offering at their price point.

I am still not sure if I should get it, it costs nearly twice the price of it's Chinese rival, the RedMi 2, and the A3 offers 5mp front camera, SAMOLED and aluminium build while the RedMi 2 is cheaper, 720p res, bigger screen and bigger battery capacity. I like MIUi more than TouchWhiz, and the RedMi 2 is cheaper and user experience is very par with the A3.

          Non-removable battery?
          really?
Samsung is going to suffer the same ugly fate as HTC and Sony.

Main disadvantage is the non-removable battery..really...you dont want plastic but want the removable battery and u want metal yet still u want removable battery when you know its not possible on a metal phone..am starting to thing people are ones that are confused about what they want no Samsung..

              Samsung really change their design
hope samsung focus on s,note, alpha,A,E and J series and forget like grand, mega etc
love samsung design on my note 4 and build quality and durability.

Do you know if adapt sound is still included or has it been binned off along with the default Samsung music player?

I dont think there is anything special about these mobiles. Same Samsung bloatware and usual excellent build, and usual software rubbish.

I don't think the top executives at Samsung have really a good head on their shoulders. Every phone that Samsung is producing is a lackluster.

Not sure what's so impressive about this. It looks like every other Samsung on the market and is still too expensive.

Sony Z1c now costs as much....still a flagship level against this midranger.
Love how this site makes this expensive cr...ap look somehow actually worth the money.

I see it costs in germany around 300 €, its too much for me. For that money i can buy lg g2.
i paid 180 € for my s3 neo. it is not much different from a3. price tag is too big even it is much premium. you cant se difference when you put it in some protection case
