Charge test: Battle of the fast chargers

10 April, 2015
Smartphone batteries piggybacked on the growing screen size to go up in capacity to support both the screen and faster chipsets. Slower to deplete, the new batteries also proved slower to charge so manufacturers tackled the issue with new standards.

judging by the phablets charge page, the asus zenfone 2 is a huuuuuuge disappointment in terms of battery life, they say it themselves that it's power hungry. too bad, except the bezels, it was a must buy, but now the battery life is concerning :(. so the review will be up soon

I wonder how USB TYPE-C will change the landscape. I've been waiting for this to appear in phones for half a year now, and even Samsung failed to implement it (they were first to use USB 3.0 on the Note3).

Charge times: Where the fastest lose.

Please people Don't buy into this fast charging hype. The faster li-ion batteries charge the sooner they'll die. It seems iphone won this round, the rest would die in less than a year.

Quite a turn from samsung. From offering the most future proof phones (replaceable battery, storage), now they're offering the least future proof phones. In a year or so the battery would hold half the charge and their phone would be next to useless.

                    Why you didnt put N6 / M8 / G3 / S5
                    and even 2013 flagships
to make us see how to have gone throw Different generations

This fast charging is very bad for the battery. It will die very soon if you always try to charge it fast.

OF COURSE THAT battery which has more mAh will be charging longer..
Mine Mate 7 has 4100mAh battery capacity and charging time is 3 hours.

All most fast chargers do, is deplete the overall life of the battery. Fast charging, by increasing the current available to the cells inside the battery, typically overheats the chemicals inside the cells, which is why your battery can get warm when charging. SLOW charging, reduces the overall amount of current available, limiting the stress on the cells, and improving battery life.

The usb cable is also very important, you need a thick cable with something like 24awg. Also, shorter cables loses less than long cables
