If daily use gives snappy performance free from stutter, it should not make any difference.

But you mention playing a heavy game for prolonged time as a real-world use that could tax a phone, something I have never done - then again, I never had a phone that could handle anything really animated. (Dual-core 1ghz with half a gig of ram.. and on my free loaner from a friend after mine died, single-core 1ghz also with half a gig of ram.) Is that kind of application the only type which could see benchmark-style differences?

ILLUSIOCONCIENS, 07 May 2015Snapdragon 808 VS Exynos 7420, theres no have battle...Sams... moreSamsungs Exynos 7420 may win if you need all 4 high performance cores at once, which is a rarity in general phone usage, but said Exynos 7420 will lose horribly from SD808 when it comes to long term GPU performance, aka playing a game that taxes the GPU for prolonged time.

Otherwise, both SoCs will do more than enough for mostly all phone users, which means that all the other parts of the phone come into play. And in such case, a non burn-in IPS display and a better overal camera make big strides to put the G4 ahead, removable battery and sd-slot only add up all the more.
