" owning a phone created an emotional attachment - a bond, if you will - that you can hardly get with an everyday object today"
Well it's not quite right :)
There is one device which still creates an emotional attachment: The iPhone :)
I'm sure most iPhone user would agree.
And...
If you don't have an iPhone you don't have an iPhone.

what is strange, back in 2000 to 2008 i used to change phones frequently. Nowadays i try to stick to one model at least for a year. With a price tag phone=laptop is hard to change them every 3 months ;)

Happy birthday GSM arena, i used to start mobile phones in the year 1999, the year i was in my higher school. i used many of the starting models of nokia n ericsson's n panasonic. the first slim phone i used was panasonic g55, then first screen phone was nokia 6600. really gr8 memories of old days, when owning a mere mobile phone was status.

Happy Birthday, GSMArena ! Wish you guys all the best !
Is it too sad that I can name most of the models on the picture (if not all) ? :))))
I think I've been in the mobile phones business for too long (since 1999) :(

HBD to GSMArena!
I have one suggestion. Maybe we should have a page on the website wherein we can discussed what Mobile Phones will offer 25 year in future.
In 2040, we will be discussing about Samsung S6, Iphone 6 and other smarphones.
So let's have a page dedicated to what Mobile Phones will be in 2040.
Cheers!
