LG Nexus 5X review: Settling down

16 November, 2015
Some think that it's time for Google to start making its own hardware, the closest we have today is the Nexus series. The Nexus 5X, co-designed by Google and LG, is the mid-range offering and a respite from the 6" Nexus last year, leaving its sibling to fill the premium, large-screen role.

Aspros, 17 Nov 2015Worst nexus ever, a disgrace for the family name... And LG... moreYou DO realise that LG is just the manufacturer, right? Google is the one creating all the design choices, what chipset it uses, etc to create. LG just builds it. They take very little of the creation of the device other than distribution.

Called it! Knew there will be an review today, and its about time too.

Worst nexus ever, a disgrace for the family name...
And LG proves that the G2 was just an exception, they have returned to mediocrity ever since, never to remake another phone able to compete with that legend...
Since they dropped stereo speakers, why the nexus 5x has so big bazels then?
comparing to the G2 who also had a 5,2incher display?
And once they have so much bigger bazels, why they cant at least have same battery capacity G2 used to have?
All these compromises to save costs?
In europe this phone costs as much as the xperia Z5 compact, in these tests you can see the compact flagship is clearly superior on every aspect.
Earlier nexuses, where if not the best feature wise, surely the best performance wise and also significantly cheaper than the competition. This is what gave them all the hype.
This phone is a disgrace for all what the nexus name stands for...

I think the Xiaomi Mi 4C is a much better competitor than the ones you've listed. Not only is it much cheaper with identical specs almost everywhere, but it tops it with 3GB of RAM, an IR blaster, dual 4G sims, much better loudspeaker, and slightly more compact body (made better by capacitive controls). You only lose a bit in the camera department (which is still great) and the fingerprint scanner.

Great, perfect review as always. Only one thing: what about the yellow tint of the display? Looks like you got the right model.

I really appreciate what you guys at GSMArena are trying here. Constantly trying to do something different and improve. I like the idea that I can choose what I want to view as some stuff to me is just repetition (like web browser - everyone knows what Chrome is like by now). Keep up the great work!
