I did't find a slight difference in image quality when I upgraded from S5 to S6 which has QHD screen. So, sony's 4k screen in nothing more than a gimmick.

I can definetly see a difference between the iphone 6s plus FHD vs4k display.
But you wont see a much differnce between a 2k samsung amoled and a 4k sony display.
But if you turn on supervivid mode their is a difference.
I saw a lot of videos on youtube.
My point is proved.

The Z5 premium should give an awesome VR experience. Think about it. If a QHD display gives you 1280x1440 per eye resolution. Then a 4k display should give you 1920x2160 per eye. BTW a Full HD display used with VR is pixelated. You can easily see the pixels because each eye has 960x1080 pixels per eye. So this Z5 should be the best on the market.

Only thing better than 4k display in this is 4k recording, supporting h265 and 53mins of recording. Samsung can do max 5mins, not even to mention max file size/length of all recorrdings you can do with limited memory.

I'll just say this...All the people that I've shown this phone playing a 4K video has marveled at the view...Samsung users, iPhone users...even Xperia Z3+ users.

If Y compare 1080p on 5,3 Note1 display with 1440p on 5,7 Note 4 display then y notice difference in picture or loking videos with bare eyes. Yes there is diference in dimensions of both mentioned displays, procesing power, graphics...., but the point is that there is to low 1440p or higher res content. And by the way videos at least in 1080p on 1440p res display are crysp enough. Sometime are videos in 1080p better looking than 1440p on 1440p display. What is bothering me is also procesing power/battery drayning on phones of higher res. than 1440p. Its just my opinion and still like my Note 4.

The point everyone wants to know is that does a 4K resolution on a smartphone make the picture any clearer than, let's say, a 1080p resolution? Based on this, it clearly doesn't. 1080p smartphones display a razor sharp picture in most cases, which is the minimum requirement for a high end smartphone. Having a resolution which shows a HD image that is pixelated is a no go for any premium smartphone, even if you can make out what the image is. I can look though a blurry glass and make out an apple without any problem, doesn't mean I will be satisfied with how the image looks.
Anyway, as long as the phone satisfies the use then that's the most important thing. Personally, if I cannot tell difference on a HD image, or a HD video, between a 4k screen and a 1080p screen, I would not be satisfied, and I would not feel it is justified in paying that extra money.

AnonD-152638, 23 Nov 2015You talk about seeing pixels, but that is not the complete ... moreThere are two different things that should not be confused
1) The resolution of the eye
2) The sensitivity of the eye
The first is what my test can help people measuring.
The second is what is in effect when talking individual pixels on a uniform(ish) background.
Think of a starry sky. We can see the light from objects much much finer than our resolution.
But we can not tell if a small light source is an individual star, a double-star or an entire galaxy, that is limited by our resolution.
What the test tells is NOT what is NEEDED, but a limit where it will be pointless to go beyond.
As I stated multiple times, the eyes are GREAT at smoothing things out, especially if we are talking moving objects. This is why the old pre-HD TVs worked just fine, the brain could easily construct an image from the coarse grid of pixels.
If you put your head closer than normal to a pc-monitor (or other display) you usually CAN see that it is not a uniform white, but again the brain smooth out the image to a uniform white, as soon as there is any more interesting information available for it to handle.
No matter the display-technology, the eyes have a limited angular resolution, and that is what the test-image are constructed to measure. Note that I use one base-colour on a black background, not to have to take into account how the colour is composed.
Have a look at this mock-up in the post http://eskerahn.dk/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/SubPixels_3.png
When you are at a distance where the two vertical 'line-pairs' with 2 respectively 5 thirds of a pixel distance looks equal, it means that you can no longer distinguish (5-2)/3=3/3=1 pixel.

We're free to express our views on the phone. But please let's not treat people who have different views/preferences with disrespect.
Some people want to buy a phone based on screen resolution. Who are we to judge them? It's their money. We have no business forcing our standards on them.
PS: take all online sources with a grain of salt. Cross-check sources.

Actually I also didn't like the pattern of the pixels.
You can't have smooth straight lines this way.
Really obvious in first image.

Ravi_111, 23 Nov 2015Don't wasted your money no 4k display I watched 4k videos i... moreActually, buying a z5 premium even without that 4 k screen wouldnt be a waste of money compared to competition, as it offers most complete package of them all:
with best photo and video camera on a smartphone, stereo speakers, hi fi sound, sd card expandability, fm radio, ps4 remote playing, excellent benchmark and gaming performance, fastest multitasking out there, waterproof build, one of best fingerprint scanners, one of most beautiful designs out there...
4k is only a surplus you get for, yes indeed an expensive but albeit competitive price to competitors
