Xiaomi Redmi 3 review: Precious little one

29 January, 2016
Xiaomi Redmi 3 is not your usual budget smartphone. The word budget is hardly a good match for an aluminum unibody, a 5" IPS display, a powerful octa-core processor, a 13MP camera, and a beefy 4,100 mAh battery. And yet, here we are. The Xiaomi Redmi 3 may be cheap in price but it does not skimp on features...

Great review. One thing that I that might make it better is if you moved the phone while it is recording video footage to see how jerky or smooth it is e.g. I noticed that the Nexus 6p has quite jerky video recording while the huawei mate 8's for example is very smooth while recording and I definitely prefer smooth! Great review anyway :)

i love J7 for the removable battery tho, that is the best point.
but other feature is just "not there" for J7

AnonD-352420, 30 Jan 2016The j7 uses the weaker but more efficient new gen low range... moreI agree whole heartedly with your opinion and your approach. Thank you, sir :-)

Wait first of all let it be launched in india then experience it whether it is average or not and keep in mind that it is only 7000 Rs ( approx. ) mobile so not to expect so much from it

this phone will be available in india only when xiaomi sold enough of it in china, and xiamoi boss in india only mentioned releasing redmi note 3 and mi5 for India,so i won't be surprised if they don't this release this phone in India

AnonD-352420, 30 Jan 2016Still a compromise, because 200 does not always look like 2... moreYou are reasoning is correct and this is why we've so far just went for 50% on the brightness slider. Some sort of a real-life brightness setting should be best but is almost impossible to come up with ...
So we've decided that a move to 200nits would make the situation more controlled. The Xperia Z5 doesn't have especially high outdoor visibility or especially low reflectivity and yet at 50% on its slider the screen lights up with mere 90nits.
That can't be fair to its Samsung competitor, which not only has lower reflectivity, but also lights up at 208nits at 50%.
So with the move to 200nits we'll attempt to level the playing field and remove the display brightness as a variable and we'll leave the battery efficiency of the other components to battle it out.

                            Cheers!

There's no mention about the quick charge 2.0/3.0 so I assume that there's none. How long does it take for each charge from 0 - 100%?
