Samsung Galaxy S7 edge hands-on: Camera test

24 February, 2016
We had the opportunity to spend the day with the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and we set out on a photo tour of Barcelona, MWC's home city in the last ten or so years.

AnonD-411799, 24 Feb 2016woah, people complain about bezels on sony, look how huge i... moreYou should check facts before making incorrect comments that make you look silly.

The 5.1" S7 is shorter, narrower, thinner and lighter than the 5.0" Sony X Performance.... by a fair margin too.

Sorry.... Sonys bezels are still a joke.

Wow - images look sensational! They look like they were taken by a professional photographer! HDR low light images are what make it a contender for me.
Wouldn't mind seeing some underwater shots!
Quite impressed to see how much smaller the overall body is compared to the S6 Edge.
I'm all for small body / large screen ratio.
The real test will be a direct comparison with other flaships - but it's looking promising for the S7. Fair play to them

Deftool, 24 Feb 2016Is the photo quality that great? Lack of detail and smearin... moreI unfortunately have to agree, I wasn't impressed with the photos (however, the videos looked great on my 1440p monitor!). A comparison of photos from another phone would help, especially with the low light shots.
But look at the "Segrada Selfie" photo in the article: The building towers in the background look HORRIBLE.
I am so sick of manufacturers AND reviewers (not this one) saying crap like "5mp is enough for selfies". That's total BS. If the rest of the photo looks poor, it ruins your shot. I can't believe Samsung stuck with a 5mp front cam. It's like putting plastic door handles on a luxury car.

I still think Samsung will have the overall 'best camera for all situations' though, with its fast focus, fast shutter and potentially better low light shots.

Thanks to the reviewer for posting this helpful article.

OIS performance still bad, night shots really good, though motion blur present, not living up to commercial representation photos.

If regular S7 could talk, he would say "WTF am I doing here in 2016?"
He's like the nerdy, socially awkward brother of S7 Edge.

I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which is prone to hairline scratches. Google it.

I just want to know if S7 Edge is also prone to such scratches..

Wow! Samsung still haven't learned anything about design and didn't improve anything about the looks of their phones.

Also, what's with the curved display still being used? It's useless and makes tapping the edges difficult, thus making it pointless to have on a phone.

if you listen to tech reviewers right now I am telling you '' you are a victim of social media brain washing ''. This sd820 is a complete joke.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2016Yeah but Z5 doesn't live up to its nameDon't like S810, try X/Xperformance, want 4k screen/? wait till september. If you don't like their processing, only salvation is for them to allow raw capture.

The S7 overtakes both without effort

Sorry to have made fun of your inability to compare sizes, that must be difficult to deal with everyday.

This is the result of choosing sensor with better focus tech over sensor with the better pixel quality(brightness), with resolution as sacrifice. I like better Z5 camera that can use 23mp in day, super/down-sampled 8mp with hi iso in night. Thats even with f2.0 . This will be probably the best for motivation of icopy ssheep fans to become g/zwolfs.
