Lenovo Vibe K4 Note review: Phabulous

18 March, 2016
Last year the K3 Note launched as a "big features, small price" phone and now the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note continues the legacy. It has impressive stereo speakers, a sturdy metal frame and a fingerprint features. It's the kind of spec sheet we see from a premium mid-ranger, except this one stays under the $200 mark.

        Here's a serious advice...

If you're gonna buy a Chinese brand it's all well and fine if you stick to anything that runs on Snapdragon not Mediatek. Period. Kirin only when Huawei can prove some semblance of GPL compliance as far as their software and firmware approach currently when there's no evidence of that yet.

No disrespect to Mediatek I'm aware that they're doing really good at trying to push their SoC design envelope but right now their primary objectives are centered around mostly about gimmicky multi cores' addition and just locking in 1st their home turf China market and 2nd be the sole undercutting rival for Qualcomm at midrange and lower devices full stop. They don't care about code, they even blackmail smaller OEMs with their kernel sources and above all are more than comfortable to just churn out the next blockbuster of the week to avoid from providing long term support to partner OEMs let alone the user base.

non renovable battery go for people who change their phone every one or two year, or not very active user.
if im a phone maker of course i tend to build phone with sealed battery. that is non question.

regarding k4 note, a good phone in 2015.
but xiaomi is the top budget phone in 2016

Well, if it's using a Mediatek chipset, it's probably never getting Marshmallow.

Hi Gsmarena team, I have been waiting and waiting g for months now and still I have not gotten yet the review for the (my) Lenovo Vibe P1. That phone came with one of the biggest batteries in the class, 4900 mAh. And I believe that Gsmarena is a fluke and they never review the gadgets that deserve some credit, shame on you Gsmarena, I have read almost all your blogs and reviews but seeing one of the most influential devices not reviews, I think it just a shame to see that. Please fix that, just because it is not available in the US and I am from the Philippines does not mean that you can just forget it, just because you do not care about cheap gadgets, BTW that phone costs only $333 currency exchange, please fix this, Thank You.

                          The picture show waterproof.......... but......

The Vibe K4 is a great smartphone for its price, but LeTv/LeEco Le 1s is a thousand bucks cheaper in India while offering better specs & build quality. Then the King of them all the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 beats both of them at this price range in every aspect bar none. So if I had to pick one now I will go for Note 3. But this scenario can dramatically change within months, as the LeEco Le 2 with the deca-core Helio X20 chipset arrives in the scene. Let's wait and see.

...of course they don't let you swap the battery. Else you'd be tempted to keep the same phone for years to end. Good thinking on their part, now the customers should start punishing them.

Sealed batteries is a ploy against the customers. Battery tech only evolves very slowly, so the *only* solution is to treat batteries as consumables. Since most companies don't nowadays I say people should hold on to their older phones with removable batteries, or at least buy from the few that still offer the feature...
