Also, the "old" micro is the reason the Samsung S7 doesn't support 3.x charging.
FYI - The standard was completed in August 2014. Nokia N1 tablet came out in (Nov-Dec?) 2014 and used the C type connector and a couple phones followed in the next several months.
In my opinion, the industry has been dragging their feet on this one. Understandable though, as it requires a redesign of the circuit board to support the additional pins on the Type C connector.

They're given a screen, but they want 4.7, 5.5, 6.0 etc etc
They're given a casing, and they will contradict and want the other (plastic or metal)
They're given a good camera , but they'll contradict and just want another spec
They're given a , they'll just complain on how small or high the RAM size will be
They're given a , and they'll just complain on how that chipset is too slow
So, to answer your question, it depends on who "they" are...
Nowadays, "They" don't know how to check if the phone outed by a certain OEM will fit their lifestyle and just throw a tantrum and say "I want this" or "I want that"

HTC confirmed that you can toggle a theatre mode and use the two speakers as stereo speakers. Reviewers go try it out!!!
