Asus Zenfone Max review: Tanking up

30 May, 2016
It may not be the fastest ride – and it sure ain’t the hottest – but it comes with a full tank and mileage to spare. 5,000 milliamp-hours... That’s more juice than many tablets get and enough to charge 3 iPhone 6’s. The Asus Zenfone Max is no joke when it gets to battery backup. But it’s a smartphone in its own right - an affordable midranger at that.

AnonD-58384, 31 May 2016Asus is a BIG HORRIBLE Phone Bought One Laser Camera one ... moreupdate your phone and almost all apps in zenfone can be disabled (both lollipop and marshmallow), and you don't even need to root. i have like 1gb free ram for user on my laser 2gb ram. disabling/uninstalling unused apps is way easier than repairing your broken refrigerator.

"Perhaps the non-removable battery complaint is shaky when you simply have so much of it. Well, the plain 1A charger does become an issue then, even more so considering the chipset does support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 but hey, the phone comes quite reasonably priced and an extra quick charger won't break the bank."

So, if we use the charger for zenfone 2 which support quick charge, will the quick charge work also on zenfone max?
    Anybody tried?

Since I am on whatsapp, facebook, instagram and email most of the time It wonderfully serves my purpose of long endurance. For photos I have my DSLR and guess what with OTG cable I can transfer photos directly onto phone by connecting camera`s usb cable to it. Thus letting me share photos in matter of minutes. Its a phone that shouts Endurance!
Though takes woefully long 5hrs to charge you can put for charging before you sleep and wake up to see it fully charged. I last had moto g2 and it was a pain. This one I plan to keep for a long time, till maybe a 10,000MaH version comes ;)
Go for it! (Spare the camera though, photographer in me was left disappointed)

Im quite confused if which one is better
              Selfie or Max
Im quite interested in the selfie front camera as well as the dual tone but disappointed on the gsmarena criticism or somewhat unbiased judgement
And the max is undeniably a beast when it comes to battery life and a lower price but with lower res screen somewhat slower chipset and weaker cameras
              Plz someone help me

this phone is for the practical. that battery life is impressive but considering the display and the chipset used, it's definitely expected. still, asus did a great job with this phone. much better than most.

Anonymous, 31 May 2016why is everyone complaining about the processor? is there a... moreThis guy here has a point. A quad-core a53 @ 1.2GHz in 28nm LP(low-power) is decent enough in casual tasks. Just don't abuse multitasking like a maniac and it will be fine. I wished this Snapdragon 410 was clocked @1.5GHz-1.7GHz though.

People got traumatized with previous quad a5/a7 chipset where it often panicked(and choked) on a handful of apps. Don't belittle the a53. It's fast and efficient. It's a good boy :)

Still, this is not a performance smartphone and it's catered as an endurance variant.

But your Crysis sarcasm went a little sideways. It's GPU-heavy and it's another story :)

AnonD-58384, 31 May 2016Asus is a BIG HORRIBLE Phone Bought One Laser Camera one ... moreYou sould uninstall or disable the apps you don´t need. That should give you more free RAM.

It´s true Asus has plenty of bloatware, as many other manufacturers still most apps you can uninstall. Also most of the bloatware will dissapear on MM update.

All of my friends who have a Zenphone are happy, and in my humble opinion it´s one the best value for money phones out there

Out of 2GB RAM just 400 MB RAM available
                          Entire mobile freezes/slows down

GSMARENA should give Usable RAM after first update of phones so customers dont get cheated
