Lenovo Moto Z and Phab2 Pro hands-on: First look

08 June 2016
At its Tech World event, Lenovo revealed how it both competes against and cooperates with Google. The new Moto Z flagship has its own take on modular smartphones, something the search giant has been trying to get off the ground for a few years. Then there's the Tango pioneer Phab2 Pro, which is Google brains running on Lenovo brawn.

hmm..interesting model...i didn't even go through the phab handon..the moto z is going places...but what does it mean by you can't put a 3.5 mm jack in a 5mm device?? ever seen an ipod nano(or better yet the cheap chinese knockoffs?)..if they can bring back 3.5mm jack in the battery cover/ the jbl module then it may actually do wonders(imagine a jbl powered audio out)

TechTech, 10 Jun 2016well if you know anything about Marketing Strategy, this wo... moreYou're right. Many companies don't really listen to the complaints of their customers just so that they can earn more money. Just look at Nokia, Blackberry, HTC, Sony and now Motorola. They sure made tons of money, did they? That's sarcasm, by the way. In case you don't get it.

Lenovo is doing justify to Motorola...Great job Lenovo

I think the pogo pins look ok in pictures, almost like a styling detail. But they could have perhaps been arranged to make it look even more like a styling detail.

The batterpack isn't a bad idea. but they should have made an even thinner version. One that is not noticebly thicker than the camera hump.
I wish Samsung did something like that with their devices.
They all need a number that makes the device sound slim, for marketing.
But a basic ascessory, even better if it came with the device, that evened out the camera hump, in favour for at least a little better batterylife, sounds like a really good idea.
It would allow for devices to actually come with even bigger camera humps, to fit more powerfull cameras. (I wish there were more mobiles with optical zoom, but balanced sensor quality and lens quality with slimness and zoom, so only about 3x optical, like 24-72 sounds good)

..., 10 Jun 2016It's been said before but having no 3.5mm jack is a stupid ... morewell if you know anything about Marketing Strategy, this would not be an issue since most companies right now don't listen to users as long as they can get more money from their products

hm, the lack of a 3.5mm jack is a pity, even if they're giving you an adapter for free. i hope GSMA will do a review with an advanced sound test after these phones are released. and that sound quality over headphones won't take a hit.
a question regarding the keys, though. on the images, the Moto Z uses software keys. but it looks like there's actually gonna be hardware keys instead, indicated by those blue dots. is it only the demo unit that has software keys? because backlit sensor keys would be great

It's been said before but having no 3.5mm jack is a stupid move right now.

Hmm, after LG G5 that bottom portion of the Moto Z is the worst thing I have ever seen.
