Motorola RAZR maxx V6 review: HSDPA flip take two

28 June 2007
Motorola keeps reusing its trustworthy old RAZR V3 design in almost all of its current models. Probably most of the users will agree that this is not a bad thing at all, as those are one of the finest, most beautiful phones on the market. RAZR maxx V6 is no exception to the rule.

I have had my v6 for 18 months. It has done everything that i have expected it to do.I have dropped it so many times.I have even left it in the rain by mistake in which case it stopped working for a day then it came back to life and has been good ever since,Very tough and I am very happy with mine.I will keep mine until it does die..but I don't think that will be for quite a while yet.Good quality phone.

I hate Motorola products because there's a lot of factory defect products ! Weak in quality control ! So the Motorola' s position in world market dropped to 3rd position, under SAMSUNG !

HELP... I bought this phone, thinking I could use it with my AT&T provider. The V6Maxx I purchased is an Unlocked version. I can not access the MediaNet or MediaMall of AT&T with this phone. It doesn't have any of AT&T pre-loaded features. Sometimes, it will tell me "searching for network". I can be standing next to a co-worker who has At&T and they have full signal strength and mine won't pick up a signal. At&T says they can't help me, since the phone was not purchased through them. I bought an Itonecard to download ringtones and stuff and can't use it. This phone won't download to At&T website.

Anyone with any helpful advice.. and can explain in plain terms...I am not technologically gifted and still learning how to download and use MP3s and ringtones.

Why don't they mention that there is a v3xx with almost the same options and old good razr design. Maxx V6 looks plastic and feels much cheaper.
The improvement is 2MP camera and better external display. I had a choice and I did buy v3xx - looks better, has hsdpa, a2dp, up-to-2gb card slot. also the colors are a little better. Photos are very nice, better than nokia 6280 2MP.
v3xx, maxx V6 and even V9 are very similar. The latest one may have better screen but apart from that there is no revolution. Also v9 is now 20cm long when opened? i though original razr was huge. If any of these phones is worth its price than it is v3xx (i had it with 1gb card and headphones for $300) otherwise look for Samsung, Nokia or SE

Well, since no one yet addressed the issue, i'll go ahead -

why can't they just make it work smoothly with a mac ?!?!

So just that you guys know: if you're thinking of using some 3G/3.5G network to connect your V6 as a modem using Bluetooth to your mac (G4 powerbook for say...) - it's just not gonna work.

And if anyone has ever managed to set this up - please oh please let me know... ;)

                    Cheers

I just got the RAZR MAXX V6 phone and I'm pretty wrapped with it.Only have one problem tho and it seems to be a consistant one with all phone - I own a MAC computer and so the software to do all the cool stuff is useless to me. Why is this shit still happening??? why haven't they supplied software for all platforms???? Is there anyone out there who knows how I download any software that is compatible? I would much appreciate it.

This phone may not be as flashy as the U700 and other phones that attracts us with their outside appearance. Truth be told, this phone is the "bomb"!

Other phones lose their appeal after a couple of days. We get bored with them, especially if they dont perform according to the industry standard.

Sure everybody says tha rzr design is so last 3 years ago. But how can you go wrong with a "classic?" Does one say that the Porsche Carrera car design is so 70's?

Sure the v6 may not look appealing outside. But it delivers where it counts most--- in the inside!

I had this phone for 2 months and it just keeps getting better. Now this is real value for your hard earned money! You can't go wrong with the V6.

The V6 Maxx is certainly Motorola's best phone to date by the standards of myself and many of my cellular phone savvy friends. BUT... it seems rather impractical to buy a phone, its excellent qualities notwithstanding, for such a ridiculously profligate price, knowing that in six months' time, a newer, even better phone will come along, with cooler features, a way better camera resolution and say, a hundred mbps HSPDA capability, and make the V6 look like an old style brick game.

I swear I love this phone!! It's gorgeous, so sexy, and sooo touchable. The internal and external screens are incredible clear and look like plasma screens. The craftsmanship of the phone is unrivaled and I love how Motorola is becoming ever so inventive in the ways they introduce their models... I'm proud to be the owner of this phone and when I get a call or message and the phone lights up everyone stops and looks at in awe. Sometimes I leave it on the counter at work right after I send a message so when they respond back I can see the look on people's faces lol.

How can I turn off the sound of the buttons and still let the ringtone be loud?

Everytime I turn off the sound of the buttons, the sound of the ringtone is turned off as well.. Is this normal?
