LG V20 hands-on: First impressions

06 September 2016
Today LG unveiled the highly anticipated LG V20, a successor of the rugged and powerful V10 phablet. The new V20 focuses on keeping what made the V10 so cool - the secondary display, toughness, great audio specs and impressive camera capabilities, but continues to improve the looks, the chipset, the camera experience, and the battery life.

They need more light either through apertures or bigger pixels or both. Worth less exposure and more dynamic range and less blown highlights and light fixtures.

Less aggressive processing whether that's sharpening or noise reduction.

GSMArena battery endurance is the standard, n00bs. Nobody cares about your anectodal evidence of how your LG device last longer than a samsung because we all know you did absolutely no scientific testing, you don't have a specified standard, or you simply are comparing a 2yo phone with degraded battery with another, new phone.

Fact of the matter is, LG has always been a pile of $h!t when it comes to battery life. They've been steadily going downhill since the G2 and compare to their competitors (with similar screen size, same generation SoC, RAM, etc) they're nowhere near the top. Their highest rated endurance rating comes at the hand of the LG G Flex, a phone that was released 3 years ago (!!!), which so happen to have SD800 and a 3500mah battery, so why's LG's wizardry optimization skills resulted in lower battery endurance rating with newer, more efficient SoCs over the years? Just for shts and giggles, let's examine LG phones released in the last 3 years:

                                LG G Flex - 2013 - 97H
                                LG G2 - 2013 - 81H
                                LG G3 - 2014 - 63H
                                LG V10 - 2015 - 56H
                                LG G4 - 2015 - 54H
                                LG G5 - 2016 - 60H

Let's face it, LG can't optimize their phone, they have horrible battery life and it doesn't help the fact that they're consistent in using small batteries in their phone. I wont be holding my breath when the battery test for the V20 comes out, but i know one thing for sure, it wont be pretty and I cant wait to see the excuses the LG fanboys will come up with.

My colleague uses one, difference is he no longer put a case on to prevent overheat, not use the phone while charging and also avoid any possible contact with water for the phone (who knows those who batteries ruptured could have been excited to test the waterproof feature)...

So nope, the Note 7 will still be around, only maybe pickup may be slower as the new iPhone is also here to say hello...
