Android 7.0 Nougat review: Something to look forward to

05 September 2016
Every year Apple and Google each push out new versions of the world’s leading mobile operating systems. Until 2016, for the past few years the tradition was that Apple outed the new iOS release first, in September, while Google followed with the latest Android treat in October or November. However, this year things have been different, for the search giant decided to make Android 7.0 Nougat available in August, while Apple hasn’t changed its schedule.

Android N- It's pretty impressive. Installed it on my Nexus 5
Loved the notification window and crisp notification without border, Split screen mode actually solved some problems, One of them is surfing net or chatting on whatsapp while listening something on Youtube.
Dark mode is still a good option which is missing. This option will definitely save a lot of battery. Google might get some feedback on the same and enable it.

Why, WHY did they have to get rid of the dark mode?

The best Android OS version was on avarage KitKat for most of the phones out there. I've had experienced Android from Gingerbread 2.3.6 on to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and the best experience was on KitKat 4.4.2 with minimum issues.

Split screen multitasking doesnt go well when screen casted. Does anyone experienced it too?

                ios is better

                  infamous “Android is upgrading…” screen???
do you mean firmware upgrades?? it takes you offline for about 5min..10min tops..why is this infamous?? someone bricked their phone??
Devices shipping with the new Android release preinstalled get seamless OS updates that download and install in the background, with only a quick reboot needed afterwards-
what if the battery runs out? or i restart in the middle of an update..you know because the phone is lagging..
this is where i like my edge..it will install updates at night, if i wish it to..

vertical scrolling is stupid..atleast put in groups so i can hide all those settings, google play/movies/new/other things that i rarely use

Oddly, a Clear All button has showed up in the carousel
really? before everyone couldnt say enough about how they miss a clear all button

AnonD-143211, 08 Sep 2016Yep... not happy about this at all. I was considering LG V2... moreyeah..win10 bricked an alienware...

The problem with Android guys is that they don't know what features the majority of phone users need. They include features for geeks mostly. The OS has no spotlight like feature, when phones are having huge storages to keep many files. you need to use third part apps to search for files. They also over look local privacy, that's feature to lock and hide files or apps again you need third part apps which don't work properly as usual (third part apps). They have also failed to introduce soft power button which can be customized like some third part apps do. I wait to see these features and more integrated into the android OS.

Well I hope they also fix the way apps are stored in the main memory of the phone. Right now in Marshmallow most of tthe apps cant be transfered to your SD...memory hoggers!

I really don't like the white background on the App drawer. It looks cheap and it seems like going against the design philosophy of material design. The old App drawer looks more modern and cleaner.

S, 07 Sep 2016I hate automatic updates with a passion, so it's terrible n... moreYep... not happy about this at all. I was considering LG V20 but with Nougat I'm going to wait and see... I don't want windows 10 "we know what is better for you than you" type of OS.
Very disappointed and alarmed by this "feature".
This exact Windows 10 "feature" cost many people their time and major headaches when it bricked their devices with auto-updates. I personally will wait at least a week before upgrading... many times there are issues and glitches that can be absolutely destructive to your data and etc.
