Huawei nova review: Life of a Star

3 October 2016
Look, it's the Nexus 6p! But smaller. Well, not really – it’s the Huawei nova, a newborn star in the mid-range cluster of the company's mobile universe. The nova takes after the flagship-grade Nexus 6p, which unsurprisingly, is also Huawei-made.

GSM Arena,Huawei rarely mentions what glass it uses like with the P9 Lite. But Huawei told me they use Aminosilicate glass on their models that don't mention the glass. I was told this by Huawei UK in an email

AnonD-510275, 04 Oct 2016When you know that Nova can record 4K but P9 only 1080p....4k is not a big deal.it only overheats and drains battery.beside more than 80% users record at full hd so unless the overheating and battery drain issues are not fixed, its kind of useless

Huawei, serious.... You can buy a nexus 6p if there is a deal for $400.... No nova for me.

I'd rather purchase the original Nexus 6P after the price-cuts following the Pixel XL release

funny GSMA forgot to even mention Mi5 / Mi5s gang. They are cheaper, similarly sized & plenty powerful too. Waiting for a full review of Mi5s :D

« Xiaomi's Redmi 3 Pro is as beautiful and powerful as the Huawei nova. It even offers the same blazing-fast fingerprint scanner experience sans the cool gestures. And while the GPU is slight inferior, the superior battery would be a better choice for many. And it's at least €150 cheaper, so there is that. »
150 EUR ? It's bigger than that, count 250 EUR of difference ... The Redmi 3 Pro is retailling at 150-160 EUR when this Nova is 400 EUR, that's ain't cheap !

Great job for ignoring that bottom plastic strip on the back.

So now even the Chinese companies are using those wretched on-screen keys? Looks like it'll be Apple or Samsung for me.

This could have been easily been the contender for smartphone of the year only if Huawei priced it 320$(maximum), but at this price, considering the already easy availability of P-9 and Honor 8 and other competition, buying this phone just doesn't make any sense.

It's a decent phone but too pricey

I can't even begin to fathom why they would launch this

it's a gorgeous little device, but to place it in the same Price tier as the Galaxy S6 an One Plue 3, without having the hardware to match seems foolish.
