Apple iPhone 7 Plus review: Hail to the king, baby!

12 October 2016
The iPhone 7 Plus hardly needs an introduction. Apple's preciousnesses always get the proper attention no matter what the company changed - just one pin or the whole thing. Controversy has always been part of Apple's knowhow and the polarized opinions have always tipped the odds in the iPhone's favor.

That is attention to detail you will never get from any Android OEM.

Again about SD cards, people use the cloud to store pics and videos for FREE. Why pay for something that is slow and inconvenient?

Apple Care+ lets to get worldwide support. Tried it myself and numerous people have posted their experiences online. Go to an Apple store and ask yourself.

Iphone 6s video quality is far superior to S7, note7 and other Android OEMs - Source - AN iphone 6s/7 review.

Medical research done by Apple and iphone is one google search away. Go for it.

Some other points, S7 FP scanner scratches from day to day use as reported by pocket now. Note 7 too. This is called cheap build quality. iPhone wont because its sapphire.

Again, There is a reason iPhone owns the market. It is the best phone in the world.

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2016-256 GB of NVMe storage, who wants an SD card?? -Immediate... more256 GB of NVMe storage, who wants an SD card??

People who would like to buy a 32GB variant and then upgrade it once they realise that they need more storage. Moreover, the price you pay for extra storage in iPhones are lot more expensive than a memory card. A 32GB Samsung Memory card costs $13 ( http://www.gsmarena.com/samsungs_evo_plus_32_gb_microsd_card_receives_10_price_cut-blog-21015.php ). I would agree that memory cards are slower. But if you need to save only your photos and videos there, the UHS speeds of memory cards are sufficient. Moreover, we'll be seeing a shift to UFS based cards soon.

-Immediate updates. iphone 5 from 2012 is running iOS 10 on the same day the iphone 6S got it. What version of Android is the S3 running?

Samsung doesn't develop Android. Google does. And Nexus devices have a much better Software update cycle than other OEMs. This again, is to do with OEMs. Some are better than the other.

For example, MIUI does an excellent job with updates. When MIUI 8 launched, even devices such as the Mi2 which launched 2012 got the latest version of MIUI. The Android version may be different but the features offered by MIUI is consistent across all android versions. In iOS, features are cut down on older devices. (Night Shift, Safari Content Blocking)

-Best customer support in the world. Buy a phone in USA and get warranty service in Australia no problem.

iPhone doesn't have worldwide international warranty. Correct me if I am wrong. Limited international warranty is supported by other manufacturers too.

-Best first party apps for business developed directly in partnership with primary users.
I would call it subjective. Features in some variants of Android such as MIUI is unbeatable. Check out second space.

-Ability to deploy VPN/Wifi configurations OTA in a BYOD environment. Good luck doing that with Android without third party apps.

I do not know about it well so I will agree with you.

I used OpenVPN's official client(3rd party) to manage my VPN. However, transferring the VPN configuration file across devices were a lot more trickier in iPhone when I tried it a few years back. It may have changed though.

-Out of the box FDE yet still embarrasses other phones in terms of real life and benchmark performance.

I will agree with you on this one. iPhones are a lot more secure. iPhones have no option of a bootloader unlock. Nobody can install their OS of choice and steal data. However, Android phones give you that option. Bootloader can be unlocked, custom firmware can be installed. That compromises security. After unlocking bootloader, installing custom recovery and using my phone at its maximum potential, I know that I am heavily compromising my security in case I lose my phone. It's a trade off. I have to individually encrypt the files that are important to me. iPhones win there. (unless I'm a celebrity and my compromising pictures are on the cloud)

-Most accurate displays in any cell phone in the world with DCI P3 color space

True, but the most appealing display is Samsung's AMOLED. The black levels are unbeatable and the colors pop.

          - Best video recording of any cell phone in the world (AN, iphone 7 review)
Again, iPhone is just out. When S7 was just out, S7 had the record. iPhone has this now. Few months later, another phone will have the crown. And when the next iPhone comes out, it will reclaim the crown. It just goes on. Pixel claims to have a better camera (we're yet to find out). Samsung users can say this the day S8 comes out. It's only petty when you claim that the newest phone has the best camera.

-Individually calibrated displays across all products in the range. No other OEM in the world does that.

          What does that do? Source?
Samsung gives users the choice of selecting more color accuracy or more saturation and vibrance. You can chose what you want. Some people like realism other like the ppunchy saturated colors.

          -Best resale value

Imagine you want to buy the last year's flagship. Let's have a look.
iPhone 6s plus base model: $650
Resale value: $350 (If you keep it in good condition after a year)
          Loss: $300

          Galaxy S6 32GB: $320 (ebay item ID: 222244996770)
Use it for a year and throw it in the garbage or give it to family
          Loss: $320
Sell it for $180, Loss: $140

Again, these can vary largely, but you get the point.

-Data gathered used to valuable research like Alzheimer's and other health issues, not for ads.

          And you believe their claims?

I see some basic incorrect camera info, so here's the deal with the new camera.

            - wide angle lens is improved 2/3 stop to f/1.8. That lets the camera use lower ISO for low light shots, giving you less visible grain.

            - the "telephoto" lens is really what we'd call a "normal" lens. It is 1-1/3 stops slower so that it can fit in he same little capsule the wide angle lens does. The article says 4 stops slower, but that is not true. And also, a slightly slower lens has nothing to do with obtaining a correct exposure, except that the software is trying desperately to keep ISO low because the pictures will fall apart quickly on a phone camera at higher ISOs. Solution: get a more robust camera app that lets you override the Apple program, and use a bendable tripod. Also understand that no phone camera (not even Android, it's a physics thing) can do very well in lower light.

            - 2x OPTICAL zoom means you can punch in twice as far with no loss of image quality.

            - the two cameras can work together to produce a fake bokeh effect, or a "defocused" background that at a glance looks a lot like shots taken with a large-sensor camera.

            - DNG or raw capture lets you dial in the right amount of noise reduction and other smearing, plus fix color temperatures in post-processing.

Youll need to get your head out of the sand to see it though.

Also Steve jobs is dead, Apple moved on and gave the market what they want. Also lol @ SD cards again. Who uses that old tech? I can have virtually unlimited cloud storage backed by my 600/300mbps connection.

Also I said VIDEO recording. Not audio. AN said there is NO android in the world which has the same quality of video recording as an iphone 7.

Fact remains, without iphone, there would be no touchscreen Android so please learn something about technology before commenting.

Also if you want to mention features, iphone 3GS had FDE in 2009. Some Androids still dont have it in 2016. lol

"You are holding it wrong." -Steve Jobs 2010.

"No one is going to buy a phone with a big screen." Again -Steve Jobs 2010.

And Samsung produces the most accurate mobile displays.

256 GB storage ? I can have practically infinite storage with MicroSD cards. When it is full just get a new MicroSD card and keep the old one.

Updates ? Everyone knows older iPhones start to lag after updating to new OS version and Apple is doing that on purpose to force the users to buy the latest iPhone.

Best video recording ? Even the iPhone 7 Plus can't record stereo sound along with video so it's hardly the best video recording phone.
