OnePlus 3T review: Digitally remastered

7 December 2016
OnePlus has always been one of those companies on the mobile scene, you just can't help but root for. At least to some degree, that is. A small Chinese start-up with big dreams, throwing around lofty titles, like "the flagship killer" and talking of a price revolution that is just around the corner.

ithehappy, 08 Dec 2016Yep, the samples are terribly over processed indeed. I gues... moreI really want to buy this phone but now reluctant from watching Camera sample and comparisons shown here, its really disappointing to see over sharpened grainy images of OnePlus 3T camera, didn't expected they would ruin something good they had which they had to improve in reality.

I trust GSMArena more than any other tech forum either AnandTech or etc because they have genuine comparison tool for same picture same lights.

What do you suggest, shall I wait for Price drop for Samsung S7 as MWC 2017 is approaching this FEB and I am sure Samsung would announce S8 early for sure to compensate for Nuke7. The only reason to go for S7 is that, I admire its camera as its best of all the exiting phones, for rest I am ready for the compromise.

A $100 price drop for S7 would do the trick to evaporate OnePlus3T customers.

Anybody got information about the Basemark X test in the review above.

the awarded Basemark X 1.1 where there are two test (medium and High setting) is useally one of the best Android tools to classify GPU-graphic / performance. (pretty thorough)

But the scores pasted, what are they, is it the normal medium setting, or is it the high setting.

36958 aint impressiv, partically if its the standard test, since an 200US device like the dark grey-X822 I took the plunge on' gets +43k

same with Qualcomms own benchapp Vellamo, 6200 in Chrome & WebUI.

so bang for buck on pure power, still king of the hill, hence a 200US price X822..(but 2k on 5.7inch way to small, still urge for my primary P8max's 6.8inch and landscape optimaation for thumb management as my prefered mobile atm ..(really cherise the big screen)

TurboBunny, 08 Dec 2016Do you browse 12 hours straight ? Just charge your phone fo... moreYou got it wrong,man..
From my experience, owned android from obscure brand to famous one (except Samsung), the browsing time minus two hours is very2 close to what we call as "Screen-On Time".
Because Browsing is more multi-core task than gaming. I dont talk about 'load' on processor. And many games now uses GPU optimization as well.

OnePlus 3T is a good device no doubt. But the price have increased to. So I might go for another interesting Chinese option. Vernee Apollo with 64 GB, micro SD card expansion, 21 MP camera. And most important for me a clean "stock android" installed and will get Nougat 7.0 Going for $299.

But will hold to I have seen a real review of it first.

this phone is all what man need for a smartphone 5.5 Fhd amoled display ( one of the best in industy ) latest snapdargon (futur proof ), useful cameras and good battery
if that smartphone cost 350$ it will sell like hot kicks

I guess OP took the S7's or Pixel's over processing route, but failed miserably. Again, this is the only review which says that the camera photos are different now! Check XDA, Anand and all, all said that the camera photos are identical! Don't know who to believe really!

In all formats OnePlus 3T camera looks bad when compared to OnePlus 3.
It also looks too much grainy and over sharpened, who would need 16 MP camera for Selfies. I wish they had improved their Rear Camera with Sony IMX 398 Sensor. For additional $40 buffed battery and Processor looks lame.

The real flagship killer would have Water Proofing, a good 1.8f aperture camera and atleast 3500 battery adding to the existing OnePlus3T.

One plus 3 didn't support Airtel(only) LTE in my city(Other networks works just fine, problem is not the sim I have as my sim works just fine in other mobile phone and I get 4G network) or you can say cities with low 4G bandwitdh. I received no service when the choose LTE but got network when switched to 3G. Is that problem fixed in 3T?

Considering the power the A10 fusion carries and how Apple is able to optimize it, I sincerely doubt that the 835 will beat it. And when the A11 hits..... yeah.. lets just see.

                          Well Done, OnePlus team.

Though this is the only review where its mentioned that camera image quality differs from that of the original OP3, but whatever.

Somehow One+ has never impressed me.

It's strategy of 'flagship killer'hype was a big turn off. Plus it's (past) policy of - sale by invite only was something too rude.
Teamed up with CM ( who wanted to overtake Google Android, the base on which their existence is) it seemed like arrogance rather than confidence.

They thought that they would choose their customers, but even apple doesn't do that.
Rather than deciding'a worthy customer' , customer will decide how worthy One+ is.

If it had not been OPPO electronics(a BBK subsidiary) One+ wouldn't have been in market today. Yet they never openly accept the fact that they are sibling of OPPO and VIVO,the iPhone replicas.

Don't forget the arrogant case and fate of JOLLA phones with sailfish OS.

Seriously, Xiaomi phones are better than one+. They are competitive in terms of pricing and equally good at user experience.

My comment is purely out of my real-time experience of the gadgets.

One+ 3T is a step in an attempt to follow strategy of APPLE's- 5&5s,6&6s and so on. But apple is a sole player in the arena of iOS, but One+ is not.

Anonymous, 08 Dec 2016Easy....the 3T has lower power consumption when on standbyLike any Android device with Doze feature.

Anonymous, 08 Dec 2016Shitty UI interface, no thanks!Install your own Launcher? Port a custom ROM? Get out of the cave, will you.

AnonD-525706, 08 Dec 2016How's $319 for a shady software update future? Umm... Thank... moreShady update? They will have Nougat update early next year of if you can't wait, you can try it already by porting custom ROM. Head over XDA for more information.

And FWIW, I bet you will see your phone after a year or two so who cares with the latest and greatest OS? Even Pixel is no match in comparison with Le Pro 3.
