The Card phone review: The future is modular

08 January 2017
With an OLED screen and a body that’s merely 6.5mm thick, the spec sheet of the Aiek E1 starts off nicely. It’s a one-off device unlike any other that we’ve reviewed in recent years.

And the system is so advanced that the camera doesn't actually need the phone at all in order to work (obviously).

It looks like more calculator than a phone, but it's so simple for just a feature phone. Cheap too.

The article totally ignores the fact that GSM networks are being phased out at the speed of light. There are already 3G/4G networks in several european countries, and NUMEROUS operators are limiting GSM service to 5Mhz only in one band, with plans to discontinue it shortly.

This means, soon there will be no GSM service. As this phone is CDMA-capable only for China, it will be a bluetooth handset nothing more. It's a pity as it looks good, and (even though the display could have been bigger), if it had 3G, not only it would make it more future-proof, it would also have better voice call quality.

actually, we need something like this, 4G-only, with VoLTE only.
