Honor 6X review: Amped up

27 January 2017
As more and more people buy smartphones online, the budget segment is becoming increasingly popular as consumers flock to buy smartphones through online retailers or brick-and-mortar stores like Best Buy. Last year, Honor's 5X was met with much acclaim; it offered value-added features for a price that didn’t break the bank.

I have this phone its called gr5 2017 this phone is great the camera shot is very good and crisp no need to use other photography app to edit the photos perfect for selfies also and it takes only .01 for capturing a photo. For gaming it can run popular heavy games without droping a frame rate. It can do a multi tasking. The battery is long last. It fast charging also. Im first time to use huawei phone and im satisfy to have it. So the other to negative this make sure you have this to prove that you are wrong.

Sorry for my wrong grammar

[deleted post]I do not agree. 5X and 6X are great phones except when taking indoor pics or running resource intensive apps. The review is honest in both aspects.

My father uses and loves the 5X phone; he just rarely takes pics or play games. Browsing and running a host of other daily task apps are done quite well on 5X. 6X should be no exception. Basing on this review and past experiences with the 5X, when his phone breaks I will get a 6X for him in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the great review, especially the camera section. It will definitely makes my decision to get the Honor 8 or Oneplus 3T easier.

My family own several Honor 5X and they were sufficient for daily tasks until we used the camera in indoor conditions. Pics came out fuzzy, lack of details and dark. In addition the phone can not handle the game Pokemon Go. The graphics/action lags during the game and even longer lag or sometimes complete freezes when switching apps made me want to smash the phone. The 5X was optimized for 5.1 Andriod OS with about 1G of ram left when no app is running. With the upgrade to 6.0, only about 500m to 700m of ram is available for apps. The 2G RAM and the SD616 chipset were not enough. The camera did not help.

With 6X retaining the same camera as 5X and the chipset is only a minor upgrade, this new phone is not for me. I hunt for value when comes to the phones and I think honor 8 ($324) or oneplus 3t ($449) are better deals. I could open 10 apps, 2 graphics games included, on a display honor 8 unit in Bestbuy store and still switch the apps easily between them. Those 4G RAM and fast Hirin 950 chipset (950 is actually 18m old) really show. For $80 more than 6X, Honor 8 is a steal.

I don't understand why they have made negative comments about the camera , Samples looks great for a budget 12MP, I've tried this device personally. it snaps HDR within Milliseconds. Yes , colors are bit washed out , that you can tune , it give some great details on daylight shots. I used HDR mode all the time.
