Our mobile chipset guide: The 2017 edition

07 February 2017
Some of you may know your Kirins and your Snapdragons, but others end up frustrated how to gauge the performance of a chipset inside the phone of their dreams based on the number of cores or the clock rate. This is where this article steps in. It's a guide to modern day mobile chipsets. It's meant as a long-term reference resource that you can always get back to when you are unsure which is which.

Is it coz people ... moreGSMArena did you a favor and not included Single core result + Ax series processors else we all know which will be on top of list ;) and you got better reason to Justify iPhone prices(even though there UI certain part don't show that they using the most powerful mobile SoC )

I hope GSMArena reads this. I want to say well done for writing this article. I hope that you build on this. I've been a big follower since the early days of the site and you guys have ALWAYS been the resource for all things mobile.

People LOVE benchmarks. Here's to hoping that we see something akin to the Tom's Hardware GPU Hierarchy (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gpu-hierarchy,review-33383.html) and DxO Mark Mobile Scores (http://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles). Having those kind of league tables will easily secure you guys with a steady stream of visitors.

Whilst nowhere near a complete list (like where's the Tegra processors, and the Mediatek MT8176?) this is still a great piece of work that I bet has been bookmarked by many people to come. Thank you GSMarena. Here's to more success to everyone in the team!

where is single-core benchmark? first you claim core number doesn't mean anything and then you post only multi-core benchmark

Why are iPhone processors not included... Is it coz people would realize how far ahead apples processors always have been compared to the android processors. Which to a certain extend justifies their higher price tag.

Nice. As a blogger you guys have done a really great work to put all this up. Thumbs up! Future updates will be great. More work is still needed to be done, the GPUs' and others. More lights on these terms and Smartphone components.

x27 can be slightly powerfull to sd650 but overall sd650 is better in gpu, modems etc

The MT6592, for example, uses eight Cortex-A7 chips, all capable of running concurrently. And later models, like the MT6592, bump these up to Cortex-A53s. - Does not sound right :)

Very good list and info is very useful. I would appreciate it a lot if you have the analysis done for power consumption on different chipsets. This would help a lot also.
