MWC 2017: LG G6 hands-on

25 February 2017
Out walks the flagship, in comes the bestseller - with the G6 LG isn’t striving for a top spot in the specs race, instead it’s aiming to appeal to a broader audience and trying to differentiate the Gs from the Vs in the lineup.

I still don't get why they haven't included a removable battery.

G3 had almost equally small bezels (75% screen to body ration instead of 78% but in a smaller overall dimension which is tougher to do), yet still managed to put a removable battery of almost equal capacity.

What's with LG moving backward according to her own standards?

A "value" phone priced like a flagship, scores lower in benchmarks and has smaller camera sensor than last year's Galaxy S7, while the S8 will be out in a month for pretty much similar price..

Additionally, the amount of regional limitations are hilarious. I mean, between Korea, Europe and the US each region is getting exactly one feature that is absolutely critical to the phone's success, yet the other 2 regions wont get it :-D

I do not like the 18:9 aspect ratio, it makes the screen look weird!

I think LG failed miserably to surprise anyone with this ! If anything, it's surprising the phone doesn't feature better specs .

Apart from the screen ratio marketing gimmick and the design there haven't really been any significant upgrades to the G5 . The camera setup is nearly the same besides the wide angle having 13MP , which I doubt will translate into a significant increase in performance . The front camera is also only 5MP and still won't match the one on S7 , which probably will still have better video / photo overall quality at the end of the day .

Thanks but no LG, I'll keep my G5 and S7 :)

Other than looks G6 doesnt excite much and seriously why remove the laser autofocus

So it's very possible that this aspect ratio would be better utilized by some forms of video. By others of course (like youtube videos, or TV shows) it could possibly be an eye sore.

So it's slower than the S7 Edge, which is now almost a year old. And let's hope that this doesn't have the bootloop issue which takes 60 days for LG to fix.

Those points make it a hard sell, then you see the price at £799. WTF LG?!

They should release it with 2 year warranty.

It's camera sensor specs (13MP 1/3.06" 1.12um) are coming straight from 2013 flagship era. Sure, there is no camera bump. But that's such a miserable way to get it.

So max area that'll be consumed is around .2 inches which is compensated by bigger display. Yes P10 plus is fantastic phone but it won't be coming to India anyways. And P10 will be killed by its unrealistic pricing. P9 is priced 2k less than s7 here whereas rest of world difference is much higher. So no Huawei here g6 or s8 for me or even mi6 maybe

LG, please quit going nuts with region locking, please...I was already frustrated on losing the removable battery, but my region now wont get the quad DAC...great. I was excited for the G6, but now I think I may look how the Xperia XZs, XZ premium...and S8 work out...or just wait on the V30...as the V series doesn't seem to be on a disappointing path...
