Others are able to make it work so well, only Sony seems to have forgotten about fine-tuning it. Of course for real photography, using manual settings is the right way to go - but not if you are in a hurry and just want to take a photo and share it. With a Sony, you will get sub-par picture quality with automode. That means the camera software needs a lot more work. Can't really expect users to play with the settings for hours to get a simple picture with their phone.

Am i the only one who thinks those top and bottom are way too much? Couldn't Sony reduce the bezels?

In manual mode a camera may be good great even but what's use of that prowess when you can't shoot such pictures in auto mode which most people use? People want to snap and share. Most other brands understood it only the one making best sensor seems to forget it

the top and bottom bezels makes the phone really looks awesome for me... there's nothing wrong with the design, i know it's personally, but it's makes the phone unique.. and i loved to be different from the others.

In fact if you look at the dxomark website. They test professional grade cameras and lenses. Currently the top rated smartphone cameras are #1 Google Pixel, #2 if the Sony X Performance, HTC 10, and the Galaxy S7. So Sony by no means has a bad camera.

Its a.matter.of perpective see...
If I tell you camera proffesionals at dxo mark put Xperias cameras at top, and it doesnt matter what your opinion on competitor cameras is as opposed.to hard evidenced dxo mark facts, and is only behind Pixel at this date, and Sammy only levels up to Xperias, and all rest are behind...
you will most certainly choose to be a blind fanboy and not acclaim that fact and try and denounce dxo ratings.
So who chooses to be blind actually?
Btw, this phone has a completely new camera with amazing results as of first hand shots, so you cant as of yet compare it to anything or claim its not better than the rest.

Kiki, 27 Feb 2017Wow, no fingerprint on XA1! That would have been a great ph... moreno fingerprint reader in the U.S. is a patent problem apparently. HP (or the guys who filed it who worked there at the time) holds the patent to a "fingerprint scanner" coupled to a power button.

Looked at the sample photos at 1:1, and the XZs has much greater detail than the iphone (look at the back wall along the water), even with the greater FOV. Colours and contrast are also excellent (iphone is a bit washed out). Have to wait and see how stable it is in low light.

So let test that, shall we? I think it is amazing that XZ is / was faster than S7 ( before Nougat at least ) despite the weaker possessor and "only" 3gb of ram. If that doesn't scream optimization, I don't know what does. Also, Xperias have a solid track record when it come to performance and longevity. I hear Samsung devices performs badly over time.

I look at the photo comparison of XZs camera and IPhone 7 and I see something interesting, they look to have 99% the same FOV(field of views or how much stuff gets in), but the IPhone 7 has 28mm(which is much smaller FOV) and XZs should have about 24mm(which is much bigger FOV, it's not on specs sheet, but they probably have the same as the last generations Z5/X/XZ)...so GsmArena cropped the bigger Sony picture to "make it even" with the iPhone's? This is cheating, if Sony has decided to get more in the picture we should see it, not make it look worse because it's not Samsung or Apple,the companies you love to review.

EX(peria) Customer, 27 Feb 2017Many Sony fanboys justify the HUGE top and bottom bezels to... moreYou forgot the fact that ZTE Axon 7 has smaller camera sensors on the front(1/4" vs 1/3") and the back(1/2.6" vs 1/2.3"), its AMOLED screen it's slimmer than an IPS LCD screen + it has no laser autofocus, colour spectrum sensor or barometer like XZ Premium :P

I liked the xzs, I'm going to wait for it. I wanted to buy xz last week, but I wait a review about this.
