MWC 2017: Sony Xperia XZ Premium, XZs, XA1 Ultra, and XA1 hands-on

27 February 2017
While Sony seemed timid the last year, now it’s ready to roar again. It poured all its tech prowess into the making of the Xperia XZ Premium, which marks a number of world firsts. The XZs is a mid-season upgrade of the former top dog, borrowing the Motion Eye camera from the Premium. Then there are the super mid-rangers - the XA1 impresses with its flagship camera, the XA1 Ultra with its selfie cam.

Isn't the first batch of SD835 reserved for galaxy S8? I'm sure it'll delay the launch.

6", bigger than Huawei's "old" Mate 9 and weights the same - but Sony put a damn small battery in it. Failure yet again. The old model already performed really bad in GSM Arena's own battery life test.

Sony is alive and kicking. By that I mean their bezels are still alive and kicking every everyone in their behind...

Joking aside, it's not the "end of the world", but does show that (in what comes to building a phone) Sony is technologically behind even some of the young Chinese manufacturers. If that doesn't sound any alarms then I don't know what will.

I honestly don't mind the bezels at all. People Are just hating on Sony but the truth is they always innovateS and makes their own DESIGN unlike other phone makers who tries to mimic an IPhone. 😂 👀

3 more phones that look almost exactly the same as every Sony smartphone from the past 3 or 4 years. Really boring

                        Snapdragon 835 with QuickCharge 3.0!?

AnonD-39937, 27 Feb 2017Dear, GsmArena, both phones have OIS cameras on back, don't... moreAll four devices have EIS for their main cameras, which Sony refers to as Steady Shot. The XA1 Ultra does have OIS, but on its selfie camera. We do tend to fact-check our information.

Sony took out one of the charging option ever since the Z5 forward to the X and XZ series. But they do not give people the wireless charging! Seriously Sony! WTF!

The fingerprint scanner never work/enable on the US (NA) version, and they still won't go with Iris ( com'on, Iris started with lumia 950)and there was how many phone put out by Sony already? Z5, Z5 premium, X, X performance, XZ etc etc.

And bow this? There's should've been a wireless charge ever since the very first xperia Z phone ( when water and dust resistance present), but no they keep on doing catch up and making bad moves one after another!

It seems that my Z5 compact will be my last Sony, all those models are excluded because of their bezels...

Tann Hauser, 27 Feb 2017The sample shots of new camera are nothing short of AMAZING... moreI know that bro, but Sony has history to ruin the camera experience in the final product. Past Xperia had better results during launch and then, final product came out with corner softness and High noise issues :/ I feat that again!

P.S- Even iphone 7 is no match from the samples above LOL

Btw, recent DIS systems prove to be more efficient than modest OIS systems fitted in such small devices.

Pretty impressive hardware specs but as usual let down by an inconsistent ugly user interface. Samsung is constantly beautifying and refining their Touchwiz/Grace UX whereas Sony barely bothers to improve their UI and make them more attractive and functional.

God!!! 5.5" 4K display with 3.230 battery!!! Hell, it so disappoint. 4Gig RAM? Where are you Sony fanboy? You bully samsung s8 for having 4 gir RAM and look now. Be brave to defend your brand, samsung fanboy will take revenge!

No upgrade, I'll stay with my XZ.
